Hi Gary,
Hopefully this will help:

It does pay to keep your sensor clean, and I usually sensor swab my 30D once every 3 or so months. I’m sure some of your images can be rescued. If you’d like me to have a go at getting rid of the spots on a few of them just drop me a PM and I’d be more than happy to.
Paul
lol. my bad. Just ignore me in future – I talk crap. 🙁 😮
There are no ‘dust spots’ as such but I think the screener is refering to the ‘dirty’ halo around the aircraft – it looks a compression issue more than anything else – the sort of thing you see when a file has been saved with a high compression rate.
lol. I was on it about 10 minutes ago and browsing perfectly well without probs. I go back on it just now, and its died with the ‘temp unavail’ message.
Nope, its working normally for me. 🙂
As far as I know the majority, if not all, cargo holds are heated – definitely all those on commercial passenger aircraft are. You can’t have frozen clothes etc. surely?
I like ’em! Great stuff!
What I don’t understand is Newcastles colour scheme on their fire appliances. Ok, so they may be painted in the colours of the airports branding, but purple and white for a fire engine? What happened to the recognised red or yellow? lol
A beautiful set – the first shot is amazing! If I could give you some CC – it would be to say that you have oversharpened some of the shots especially the BA 747 – still a wonderful photo though. 🙂
I love it when the sun shines. It makes for fantastic photos! The first three are great shots!
Interesting set of shots! I’m actually looking forward to the next time we get a lot of inbound diversions at MAN due to the closure of somewhere like LHR. They are usually the most exciting times for airports.
Excellent shots Tom! It feels really good to return to an airport for photography having not been for ages. 🙂
Great shots!
Also you got one of the final shots of an AA 757 in Europe.
The last ever flight is 0830 on Sunday morning in case anyone wants to try and get the actual last shot! 😉
thanks Mark! 🙂
why an end to the AA 757s in Europe?
Has to be Londonderry – LDY.
thank you thank you thank you for getting it right! I’ve spent all bloody evening searching through every darn airport in the country trying to find any building that looked even remotely similar. :p 😮
I’ll get me coat….
Sorry not Germany…
Getting warmer!
If its one of those two, I would say Southampton, because the building has that white exterior cladding that is common at BAA airports…
Quick question: In the Qatar picture, you can clearly see another plane in the distance. It appears to be banking left yet departing from the right of the picture. Was it a 23R departure?
Adam
the a/c in question was a BA 737 – the aircraft that is shown in the previous pic – it departed 23L, banked right, and then later in the climb, banked left – right about the time that the a/c is visible, and more or less came across the rwy centre line heading.
🙂
I love the close up shots the best but each and every one is really good.
Thanks for sharing.
P.S. As far I am aware the minimum requirement for a legal copyright notice is the © + owners name and date. But I could and probably am wrong. Perhaps a lawyer amongst us would comment.
Regards Kenny.
glad you like the shots, Kenny!
As regards the copyright thing, I guess the issue of copyright and how to display a copyright is a bit of a hazy issue for most people(?)
But since the photos are copyrighted to me anyway – how I display a notice shouldnt really matter (AFAIK?) – it shouldnt be needed – it is a shame that members on here have had to resort to adding a little security on their photos since a theft was ‘discovered’ on here a few days ago. The watermark is there to discourage people from trying to make the images their own.
Adam 🙂
