A great set of shots, Paul. You should have said you were at the car park – I would have come along to say hi!

Can you spot the ‘mini wind farm’ that has been installed at the airport…? 😉 😎

Great to have it in the UK!

Now then in the event of the A380 having to divert from LHR for what ever reason where would it go to?

I believe Manchester will be the primary diversion airport for the A380 in the UK, but at the moment the aircraft wouldn’t be parked at a gate. The required legal paperwork is being completed for the CAA.

Some of them are perhaps a little over-exposed, but the BA757 and Zoom 767 touch down shots are supreme. Very nice indeed! 🙂

Queen and ‘best’ don’t go together when discussing their work. Its against the Law! However, Queen and ‘best’ do go together when comparing them with other bands in this world.

Many of their songs are far too good –

Hammer to Fall, I Want to Break Free, Too Much Love Will Kill You, These are the Days of Our Lives, Las Palabras de Amor, Heaven for Everyone, Fat Bottomed Girls and Let Me Live are fantastic songs.

Hmmm. Summary execution for political dissent and peaceful (though downright stupid) protest?

Good job we’re the good guys, isn’t it?

Actually, I was thinking more on the lines of shoot to *wound*, not shoot to dead them. If it went so far as to trial, they deserve a fair one, so I’d want them alive. The man at Manchester was zapped with a taser gun. :diablo: :p

Should have shot the man, just like they should have shot the Plane Stupid activists a few weeks ago.

The last major “airside-outside” security breach at Manchester resulted in the suspect being shot after getting onto the apron. Why they can’t give them the same treatment at LHR, I don’t know.

Concorde itself is as long as MD-11 – and far thinner. Concorde fuselage is thinner than that of E-jets, or F28.

How does the Concorde fuselage stay rigid in strong turbulence, or on the impact of touchdown?

You’d think it was because the Concorde has an enormous wing running almost the entire length of the fuselage. So, surely, wings like this and the wing boxes are incredibly strong, tough structures. You end up with a very rigid fuselage.

New York?! For training?! For a job in London? Eh? Someone needs to explain that to me; and in some detail!

Excellent shots though, hehe. I spent quite some time looking at the pic of the Statue of Liberty, and made me realise that its perhaps one of most over-looked, under-stated ‘attractions’ in NY – people look at it, without really studying it and learning about what and why its there. It really is quite stunning, and I hope to see it myself in August!

Just what the HELL is that ‘thing’ thats hanging off the 5th Ave sign in the first pic? It looks like a dead, decomposing rodent!

I think its a planned equipment change, becuase the same thing is happening at Manchester on the 6, 15, 20, 22 and 29th March. The usual 734 is upgrading to the A340-300 – Manchester spotters/photographers – be prepared! 😎

EDIT: RE: previous post. fair enough, perhaps just a football flight. Anyhoo, the A340 is turning up at Man nonetheless.

Certainly had some wild weather in Europe these last two days. Last night was great fun at Manchester – gusting upto 62kts with a whole series of missed approaches and diversions away. The engines on a Dragon/CX 747 cargo hit the deck on its landing at the airport, too.

Its definitely where pilots earn their money!

Cking, if you’re one of the engineers that changed the wheels when it was sat on the runway, I’ve probably seen you in the MA Airfield Ops photos that were taken, hehe. Shame I can’t put them on here though.
