I agree with Andrew – there will be fewer low cost carriers as the big loco’s buy the smaller carriers.

I also believe that BAA Stansted will have new owners as ownership of the three main London airports is split up on the grounds that BAA has an unfair monopoly. I think BAA may also lose some of its Scottish Airports.

Adam, is that your Range Rover and House? If it is your house, looks like a Mansion.

Yep – I have the room at the top, and the Range Rover was a bday present. 😉 😀 :p :diablo:  (I’m known in some circles as Lord *Fib* of Wensleydale). :diablo:

*Cough.* The building you see in the background is a Hall of Residence at Loughborough University; and the Range Rover is owned by a student housing property tycoon in Loughborough – his other (yes, other 😮 ) cars can be seen in one of my posts on the 1st page of this thread.

There are mixed feelings about 3rd party battery suppliers. I bought 3rd party batteries for my old camera, and they work just as well as the Olympus branded ones.

That said, I did notice that build quality, whilst good, wasnt equal to the Oly supplied ones (one of the 3rd party batts ‘shell’ fell off – nothing a bit of sellotape didnt solve; and the battery still works fine)

I have read on forums all over the place about peoples different experiences – some people have found their 3rd party batts out perform the originals; others talk of near total rubbish when it comes to the batts.

I dont know how ebay sellers work and how ‘reliable’ they are when it comes to batts, but I myself would prefer to buy from ‘reputable’ distributors like Amazon or warehousexpress – I think you can be more certain of what you’re buying when you use such companies.

Generally, third party batteries are great and will work fine, saving you a bit of dosh.

    i hope that helps

EDIT – just remembered – I believe you can void some warrantys by using 3rd party batteries, but if the camera needs to be sent back to be repaired for whatever reason, just put the original battery in and voila.

fantastic selection, Sam. The ‘fluffy clouds’ shot is wonderful – i’m a great fan of that type of shot.

That’s some very good work there Adam, very promising! One thing that maybe I’d recommend…try to use a slightly higher aperture number and pan the shorts. Several of them seem focused in the centre, but out of focus at the front and/or back. With a higher aperture you’ll get the whole aircraft focused as it comes towards or away from you. Do you have any idea what you were using? I’d usually go for f10-11 if weather permits, f8 on a bad day.

Thanks Dan. I was using from between f6.3 to f8.0, many of the shots taken, if I remember correctly, using auto mode. I was worried that f6.3 at the top of the zoom was going to be too slow so I’d get blurred shots – many of the shots above are major crops of the original photos because if I used the full zoom I’d be using f6.3 (which i thought was going to be too slow) – I set the aperture as wide as possible.

I’m interested that you say f10-11 is good for taking shots – I’ll give it a go next time. Is it best to use the aperture priority shooting mode and let the camera choose the shutter speed? Am i right i’m saying that if you increase the aperture number, the depth of field increases, so more of the aircraft will be in focus?

    thanks 🙂

    absolutely fantastic shots as always.
I was wondering how you take your cockpit shots – do you use flash – if so, what ‘type’ of flash?
