i haven’t posted for a while, so here are a few shots from a couple of recent flights. thanks 🙂

my longest is Heathrow – Hong Kong, done over a few days, and around 10 hrs flying in all. i have also done the 6 hour hop from London – New York.
i seem to remember messing up the landing at Hong Kong which is the most annoying thing ever – i did the flight ages ago, so i am better at them now… 😉
great shots guys!
Michael (T5), what model and texture is that jet2 737?
thanks

for me, it would be the jet engine. simple as. without it, surely we wouldn’t have anything that we have today, in terms of civil aviation.
i have UK2000s version of the airport and i can safely say thats its a great airport add on. there are some bugs with the top down satelite view, as in this mode, the runways and taxiways and aprons disappear, and it cant be solved without the add on being rebuilt by the developers. its otherwise very detailed, and certainly gives me a good experience.
users do have the ability to get rid of the static aircraft, and this is a built in feature that can be turned off using the settings for the add on.
hope that helps 🙂
What aircraft would I need to use, if I was to offer an introductory flight on my courses?
a helicopter would probably be what i would use, but im no expert.
you could sit them in it, start it up and begin to hover just a couple of feet off the ground for a while, and then climb and hover at about 30ft for a while, slowly increasing the height of the hover as your client becomes more relaxed and comfortable.
then move into forward flight for a bit at a low altitude around the airfield, slowly getting higher and higher and moving away from the airfield.
with a helicopter you can moreorless land immediately if the client starts to panic – with a fixed wing, its not so easy.
then, move onto fixed wing aircraft on their next session.
thats my idea, anyway
hope that helps
that last 747 shot is great!

its easier to download the minute freeware program called FSScreen, from somewhere like avsim (you’ll have to sign up to the free accounts to download). simply save the file into a folder like My Pictures, and run the program when you’re flying on FS.
when you want to take a picture, simply press ‘print screen’ on your keyboard. the program saves the image into the folder.
to post an image on the forum, first, convert the image from bitmap (FSScreen saves the image in bmp format – i think the bmp files are too large to upload onto the forum) into JPEG – use MS Paint, or better still something like Photoshop – MS Paint produces low quality images.
then, click on ‘manage attachments’ button and search for the image and click upload.
hope that helps
thanks Elgan. its one of my favourite as well 🙂

yep, i use real engine sounds. the trent 800 and the PW 4060 sounds wonderful. u can download them from the file libraries like avsim and then put the sound files in the sound folder of the aircraft that you want.
because sound files are huge, you can save hard drive space by ‘aliasing’ files from one aircraft’s sound folder so they are used by another aircraft i.e. sounds are in one aircraft’s folder, and a line of text in another aircrafts sound.cfg file tells flight sim to use the sounds from the aircraft that has the sounds in it. its quite simple to do.
here are a few randoms from multiplayer games that i have been doing lately.
thanks 🙂
