Basically, Gorshkov won’t be the same as she was before…
A 80% rebuild, new engines, new weapons, new flight deck. Hmm, thinking of it, why not build a new carrier? :D, the steel has been delivered, the yard is going to make an extra-production line, because Gorshkov will occupy one.

hmm, yes these pictures are quite known in our world. Well, it’s normal I suppose, be lucky that you get to see them. Lots of worse stuff happens at sea. Those containers really aren’t that stuck to the ship… Lots of those get lost. And in the future, many more will get lost. Normally, with 6 containers high, you only need a 6 beaufort wind to lose them. Nowadays they are designing 10,000-container vessels, storing them 7 or 9 high. You can imagine how many that ship will lose 😀 And it won’t be my fault!

Mr Jonesy would be banned from NCIG, the moderators over there are real pain-in-the-ass-guys (Talwar is going his own way, thinking his own doctrines and even finding his own uses of certain weapons , the other one Anaconda isn’t saying anything, only when there’s something about Russian Navy )I mostly stay out of that section too, it’s quite boring, there’s no traffic whatsoever, but the Archive of older topics is quite good.
Tom and Eric probably wouldn’t mind, they are quite busy on the Wingy-thingy stuff, haven’t seen them in the Naval section.

No, it’s not CG, it’s from the real ship, with the real radars etc. No helicopter in Tartarstan iirc.
I’ll take a look if I can find any pictures.

depends on what you need it for. I have no pictures at this moment, but I do have a movie of the ship, showing the inside, the OSA-MA system that is preparing to launch, a SSM launch (albeit at Moskit launch from probably a Tarantul III corvette, but it’s spectacular nonetheless) etc. Maybe you can take screenshots?

If you want the real scale of Granit:

Not Air-Launched though. Would be too heavy for most aircraft.

    All my love Anna

That was not directed to me, Crack, there goes my heart.
BTW, I told you the *******s were looking at me and my camera. I could only take this picture when we were taking-off with our BAF Embraer. Same in Portugal… Had some C-130s and Puma helicopter from the plane…

The SSBNs are quite ok. 1 Typhoon with 10 SS-N-20. 1 Typhoon for testing Bulava. 7 Delta IV of which all are quite well trained and kept (16 missiles each). And several Delta IIIs, of which one did a launch last week and of which some others serve to do satellite launches, which is of course equally good as a real firing of Ballistic missiles.

Nearly died a 30 times on my trip with the LPG carrier. Most dangerous one was sitting on top of a 4 or 5m high temperature exchanger (a part of a compressor, to make the gas liquid again) The thing is cilindrical, so standing on it was no sinecure, when that ship starts rolling, it becomes quite dangerous, certainly when you’re working with grease and the place is full of rust and obstacles, hence you’re 99% sure, that when you fall, you will break your neck or skull and other parts.
Little detail, we (bosun and me) were changing a 50kg (100lbs) salt water pipe, that again was corroded and leaked. Hence our balance wasn’t that great.

Hmm, well indeed it’s not accurate. Yet, the US GPS codes are different. They rule EVERYTHING. Also the Civil part. They just change the frequencies, by which some receivers don’t receive the right times.
So, for a weapon, it could be sent to a completely different place, and hence not find its target anymore.
Pretty much like the example my teacher gave, a ship in the Gulf could get the coordinates of the Artic… Same would apply for the missile.
Yes, probably, if they gave it Glonass guidance in the beginning, it would be more accurate nowadays.

Hmm, I think I’ve seen a picture of Sub-Harpoon inside Walrus (in KIJK, I know, very basic mag, but excellent pictures 😉 and interesting stories if you’re not interested in the real details )
