That’s a dirty trick the Dutchies always do. Playing with frigates like they are cars. Or they are incredibily good or they are incredibily lucky, I hope for them it’s the first, cause the second one doesn’t last forever and you really don’t want to bang that ship on the other’s stern!
why didn’t anyone think about making a plate in front of those liferafts, the things reflect radar quite well… Of course in real situations it wouldn’t make a difference, but if you want to be stealth, you have to do it right! OK, the bulbous radar covers aren’t stealth either. I guess I’m just a perfectionist 😀 She does look nice doesn’t she?
You mean these?

So, if I get it right, this thing is everything except a concept… It’s a very real almost completed ship.
Are they building two of them? or is that another ship in front of the last picture?
Is anyone thinking the same as me? Where the hell are the crew and the marines going to sleep? Or are they going for the American way, nl. 35 guys in one room?
Hmm, I’d go for Admiral Graf Spee, that’s also the reason why it will be the only battleship in my modelcollection. I chose her for the looks and for the bravery in her fighting history!!!

Do you guys mind? It’s getting quite boring, talking about how bad other forums are… China Maritime power? If they read this, they’ll be falling asleep before any new ship gets completed!
Can you send me those “huge” pictures???? I’m building a model of that ship and I lack good footage with the number 099… Almost all of the internet pictures are of the old 183 🙁
There are indeed very few of these around… I hope to build the Tarantul class vessels too, but they are quite expensive at the moment.
here’s the Nanuchka you’ll surely love:

nono, I don’t think you get the point Ja.
I meant “fake” in the way that they are just mock-ups. Thus being real missiles once, but now just using mock-ups to fill the empty space…
Hmm I didn’t get the time to get a better look, steaming past them at 30+kts, these were also the only pictures I could take. Except for some longer-range shots of the Amphib…
So, indeed basically Bremen class if that class is better known to you. Bremen was also derived from Kortenaer, which are called the “S-frigates” meaning Standard Frigates. They were intended to be the standard Nato Escort frigate. Both F01 and F02 are ex-Dutch frigs, the others of the Dutch vessels are sold to Greece. I think UAE received them in ’97 and ’98, but I’m not sure about this. They did get the Goalkeeper, which was not the fact in earlier days. The Bremen has two RAM launchers instead of the Goalkeeper on the roof of the helo hangar (that being the major difference). Since someone liked the Kongo, here are some closer shots, unfortunately my camera isn’t that good and I had to use the digital zoom, hence slightly less clear pictures…
Nice shot of the main gun, differing from the Burke’s and of course the extended stern, not a sunken deck, again differing from Burke class.
hmm Dragon… I know they have a Pyotr Velikiy and other Kirov class models around in 1/700, but personally haven’t tried it yet. It was much more expensive over here than the Trumpeter 1/700 Pyotr Velikiy. But, I do know that it depends on country, sometimes the Trumpeter kit is more expensive than the Dragon one.
As for other ships, I don’t really have access to any other Dragon kits…
Ja, what company is your Nanuchka III from? I’ve seen a very nice one over at modelwarships, even with a Bridge that opened, with the officers and equipment inside, very nice, but it was scratch-built of course.
And of course: “The big ship on the right” (too nice pics not to upload them and I did NOT PS that little flag on it!)
The fake missiles could be there to show off to their neighbours, or to hide the bad condition of thier ships…
You could be right Koxinga, but I don’t know for sure. It was also my first thought… We’ll have to ask some kind of expert on that…
Here are some of the Las Palmas Pictures:
Since Spain only keeps a small logistics and patrol fleet there, they don’t have any large ships. Only one former frigate of the Descubierta class, converted to carry a helicopter.
After my photoshoot they of course called security, but I got away in time, explaining in English to a Spanish-only-speaking Spanian :diablo: That I was from that large ship on the right…
First picture: warmemorial, cruiser cannon
Second: Descubierta, with her Sea Sparrow removed and helicopter added.
Third Descubierta’s cannon, she does look majestic!
Fourth: Centinella, patrol boat, also with helo deck
Fifth: P25 Grosa and P22 Tagomago.
Sixth: Inside of A06
Seven: A06 and A05, ex-French EDIC type landing craft, now used as coastal logistics vessel (now called Pelicano class)
Eight: P25 Grosa seen from the side.
I also have some of the old tug Ferrol, some other tiny but very modern tug and a coastal water tanker, anyone interested?
since I can upload my pics here:
1/144 Trumpeter Kilo
1/200 Trumpeter Sovremenny (Baltic fleet dark scheme, Nastoychiviy)
I also have the Spanish fleet based in Las Palmas, can it be called African? Or should I get these pictures somewhere else???
Let’s give it another try, my site got blown out of the sky…
Let’s try to uploed the pictures here…
Here they are, the entire Gabonese Navy at Port Gentil!
I don’t know how they got that stealthy Vickers gun though 😀
The missiles look like the SS12 anti-tank missiles, but I don’t know what they exactly are. Also, I heard the missiles were made out of wood and hence fake, not in operation.
The ships are (from Hazegray):
P07 General D’Armee Ba Oumar
P08 Colonel Djoue Dbany
P10 General Nazaire Boulingui (the one with the fake missiles, although it is hard to believe that, it might have been the boat that was made out of wood!)
L05 President el Hadj Omar Bongo (bow doors are welded together)
