This is what I call a true Mini-Moskit (it’s 1/400):
Be aware that this missile is in fact only half the size of the one in the picture, it’s taken with a macro zoom… I do still have to paint her nose black though.
I know she’s not fully 100% on scale, but normally you won’t notice once she’s in place.
Unfortunately, it has no hangar. And it has Rif installed …
Time will approve everything …
Digdream, do you have any material backing this up???? I don’t see ANY Rif module on it, nor do I see an indications that the backpart, that looks a LOT like Shenzhen’s backpart is no hangar… Do you have any pictures taken from the stern?
Yeah, I regretted it was a Pak (and damn, since when is P A K I cesored here?) who made that remark, but I really don’t need to make friends in here. I know who to rely on and who not. And I’m leaving, studies are more important than talking to nonsense people isn’t it? I’ll keep contact with the people I want to keep contact with, the ones with much more brains and knowledge than you.
Austin is one, but I don’t want to bring any more people in Danger, Austin is strong enough to stand up for himself, the others are not involved in here.
I don’t NEED a case, you’ll just see me laughing when that thing falls apart and sinks. BTW, now it seems that the hangar is not ok, on BR they show a drawing of the hangar lay-out with the plane configuration and now it seems that that is quite oversized… So, that 80% rebuild should a) enlarge that hangar and probably partly rebuild the hull (which would then get a totally different stability etc.) or b) the new hangar lay-out is crap at BR drawing and they’ll only get 13 MiGs pushed in, without any helicopters…
Hehe, yeah you ought to come over to have a waffle together! (I come too much in your country lately). Met a girl in Goes now… :p
I”‘ve seen that hanging around, but I think the deal was split up. Good for India I’d say, since I really see no need for them to get Tu-22M… ATV isn’t in any deal, that’s more of the “under the table” deal (oops again a conspiracy). It’s not a secret that most Russian designers go a) working in a other branch because it earns more or b) go to other countries to work as a ship designer because of that very same reason. This is also the reason why China is getting help with most of its submarine designs and the same counts for India (although that is somewhat based on more official help). I hear Rubin was involved in ATV now.
hmm, a nice day at keypub!
I indeed don’t need a **** to defend me.
India isn’t Belgium (you should thank god for that) nor Russia. What I mean is, it happens in Western/NATO countries as much as it does in Eastern Countries (Russia for example). I’m quite sure that when you “investigate” a Vietnamese, Chilean, US and even Indian transfers of ranks, you’ll find this kind of things. Of course in Vietnam it would be quite hard to find anything about that. Anyway, what I mean is, and I suppose that is what **** was right about, India really isn’t all that different from the other countries as you might think.
Among that dozen Indians telling or trying to tell me this, was Austin a member over here too. (since you wanted names anyway)
Ever thought that there could more than one person who wants to swing this deal? Like a few in the higher ranks of IN, cooperating with some in the MoD etc.? It really isn’t hard to find your “friends” in such a case. And I might not have spoken to an IN admiral, but I did do that with the Commander in Chief of our Armed forces (who was an Admiral too). This is of course a “pure conspiracy theory” in your eyes, but if have the connections I have (in both political way and others) then you will figure out this is quite more common than you think.
Less-monkey country: let’s say a more advanced country if you like it that way. One that succeeds in scrapping ships without having 350+ dead people a year.
For all other members reading this: when one leaves a forum, he has to do it in fire doesn’t he?
GRRR, you really don’t get it do you???
I’m not saying those IN experts are bad, they certainly know more about it than I do, since I’m still learning from them (not IN ones, but other ones, from a less monkey-country), what I’m saying is that their results might have been “changed” by higher instances.
About those fights, the most obvious ones I’ve seen: Belgian admiral was accused of being drunk most of the time on official diners, also accused of sexual intimidation, in a “anonimous letter” to a paper and armed forces commander. And then came the defense of the MoD.
Russian Admiral Suchkov was replaced as commander of the Northern Fleet, within a month after he declared only a Single Typhoon SSBN carried only 10 missiles. He was replaced by a admiral that had never even been in the Northern Fleet, he was trained in and made his entire carreer in the Pacific fleet, Admiral Abramov (if you wanted to check that).
And then there of course was the case of Pyotr Velikiy that was likely to blow up any time because the commander happened to be the nephew of one of Kuroyedov’s accusors in the Kurk “scandal”.
Admirals often know their case, but there is mostly more than one person waiting for his position, as you said it doesn’t really matter in here.
If I’m talking about Russian Navy, I very well know what I’m talking about. I sent a picture to Blackcat with some “evidence” of what Russians do with ships. I’ll try to reduce the pic in size, but can’t promise to get it online.
Hmm, Garry, you’re time has come, from now on, you’ll have to take a very good look around before you come out of your door! You again wanted to sink merchies!!! 😉
Vikhr is fine, I agree with Srbin! If they come with a container vessel or smaller vessel, you might want to board it, not sink it. With Vikhr and it’s range, you can perfectly aim at the ship’s steering gear, hence criple it fair enough to go and try a boarding.
Before you engage a smuggler, you’ll call for back-up, so if they have Kornet and you put your GMDSS or other distress signal to the base, they ‘ll just send some heloes or stronger ships to waste this pirate vessel. I wouldn’t waste an Uran if I didn’t know they had Kornet or not. If they have it, there’s only one way to find out…
Vikhr’s just fine! Nothing more is necessary, I wonder how many more missile types they are going to develop…
It should also be taken in account that the Vikhr armed ships mostly have a speed of 35-40kts (like Sobol) and that there is no merchant ship or fishing vessel that goes that fast… So, there is really no need to shoot at them, since they can’t run away and they can hardly hurt you since they’re a lot less manoeuverable than you are.
Well, I haven’t been on Gorshkov, but I’ve been on other Russian ships and have many high-res pictures of them. Then you see the general Russian thought about their Navy. In a certain way I indeed admit I ‘m whistling in the dark, but I do have my lighter with me…
And you guys really have to stop dreaming. I’ve heard about a dozen Indians yelling: “everything is controlled in our country” and “No one would lie” and all that kind of bull****, but I can tell you in every country the ones that aren’t scared of their position still have their price. In some countries fights are more open and ruthless (Russia for example) than others, but be assured these fights and so called “control comitties” are and happen EVERYWHERE. A Navy consists of people that love their job, people that want the best for themselves and their country, if that requires a lie to achieve, then so be it. But that is something that goes against most governments (and their funding programme). The admirals really aren’t Saints, you don’t reach such a position by being a good man.
But I won’t say anything more about this. My last posts were more to be educative to Blackcat and answer his questions. Here are some pictures to show what I mean. (NOTE: these ships have hard lives, that is why they mostly are only good for 10 years of service, much harder than a carrier, so it’s unlikely that the snapping will occur to a carrier)
How could I not see this earlier!
Probably your nationality 😛
Vaiar, covering only the back arc of this ship is probably because of space constraints, there is no place (that is fit and strong enough) to put an extra forward quidance radar…
Hyperwarp,
I don’t think that’s a part of 115 or 114 because there is no part on the ship that looks like this. I would think it’s the forward part of the “hangar (if there is one at all)”, but the part adjacent to it has a large hole, which is not there in this picture…
yep, as I thought, no 360° cover for your Rif system, only the aft arc…
There would be no hangar either??? I hope we get a nice picture of the backpart of this ship, I can hardly believe it doesn’t have a hangar.
It certainly is’t a Rif carrier, for the obvious reason that there is no place enough to install either Top Dome or Tombstone…
Strange pennant number though! Quite some changes from Shenzhen too. Between the aft funnel and the hangar, there is some extra accomodation building too.
my post just disappeared?
Damn, well here’s the answer again then…
But sev, i don think even the outer sheets corroded will get the inner ‘ribs’ and as u mentiones, the layer gets thinner, I guess, such things wud be taken off and new ones attaches. I guess thats the normal process, U might be able to put more on that though.
The inner brackets are inside the fuel, ballast and potable water tanks, they corrode even before the outer shell. This corrosion causes cracks, these cracks cause tears and these cause your ship to snap if it’s submitted to high forces. This of course doesn’t happen to new ships, and due to the easy life Gorshy has lead and will lead in the future it won’t snap. But the danger for such things is still there…
Also, she’s made of High tensile steel, this allows to build lighter ships, from less thick plates of steel, yet if 1mm corrodes off, that’s no problem if you have a 5cm thick plate, but if you have a 1cm thick plate… And High tensile steel corrodes equally fast as the usual steel. There are ships with 1mm thick bottom and bow plates around, you can think how safe these are. It looks like a bunch of holes if you use an x-ray on those.
Normally you just replace that steel plate if there’s a hole in it, but I have some good pictures of Russian Craftsmanship, welding a small plate over that hole, not exactly smart, since the hole was located on the stern (in a Tarantul III corvette), which is a very hot place (two exhausts next to it) and a whole bunch of vibrations there (the welding does seem to be done well). I’ll send that picture to you. At a first look, that ship looks like in splendid condition, but if you zoom and look a bit further you’ll see the problems!
Neh, the diameter of Granit is too small on this drawing. Granit looks a lot more “fat”. The intake cover indeed exists, because it’s a submarine launched missile (developed for subs at first). There are some good pics of Granit around, no need for me to post them here right?
eerg, how inaccurate can one get? The Granit doesn’t look like the real thing at all… Bazalt has some errors too and the Malakhit doesn’t look right either…
Here’s Bazalt:

And this is P-35,for surface ships, which likely has a similar intake to Bazalt’s, although slightly larger as it seems…
With many thanks to Ruslan for putting this online!
It is btw the Mashinostroyeniy Bureau that has developed those missiles. Chelomei was one of the head directors… Yet he is now gone I think and Yakhont is not his responsibility anymore. He was the major designer of Granit though!
