for Heroyui, here’s a very nice picture of Tartarstan.
Wow, someone wants a fight in here… Have you also noticed Jonesy has been quiet lately? I suppose you want to get him back online isn’t it?
Personally I only will give you one comment. It doesn’t take too many mines and that is caused by the fact that a current is very predictable. You can also add to that that depth and sealevel are predictable, with the obvious consequences…
it just means multi-purpose I suppose. Just works similar to both Phased Arrays you mentioned. Just some part of the array using its beam to scan, other parts to track. Best to have an active arrayfor that. Since otherwise your number of tracked targets will be reduced (certainly against stealth targets).
This is a model of it. I’ll take a look in my books if I can find some more…
I think he was asking about my Kuznetsov kit… Well, it’s out, but not in our stores yet. And I’m not really going to buy it I think. Queen Mary 2 is more appealing at the moment, I’m a merchant after all!
Gorshkov might be a good project too, but only when it enters service, because I don’t really believe in those current drawings and models on the net…
Terran, there are some good Italeri models on the modelwarships.com site, in the gallery.
Back on topic now. How many MiG-29K did India buy? And how many KUB? I’ve heard plenty of numbers, ranging from 14 to 20… And how many Ka-31s are going to come?
It should be a warship, given its shape it’s certainly no merchant vessel. A Cruise-liner is also doubtfull, better buy that in Finland or France…
It does look like a warship though! Any new images?
awch, yeah that’s a known kit… Known for its bad quality and even worse included airwing… But I suppose it’s a good model to restart with and maybe for later use as a testbed!
oh, the Trumpeter 1/350? If you need any tips or hints, just ask away. Also take a look at http://www.modelwarships.com, there’s lots of good editorials and the forum has some very experienced people.
Minsk was one of my earlier models too, isn’t brilliant at all. The waterline is not straight, nor are the other lines and decklines, since I didn’t use any masking tape in that time…

It didn’t take me 10 years to get one… 😀
Maybe not, but I have some pictures of Nastoychiviy from the Baltic Fleet, on the Navy days last year, you can clearly see that the black smoke is only there when she gears back… Together with these pictures, I have some pictures of Pilkiy at sea and you don’t see any smoke…
Finally succeeded in uploading this one:
The large surface vessels of the Pacific Fleet. As you can see, Burniy is the only active Sovremenny in that fleet. Next to it are four Udaloy destroyers, Admiral Tributs, Admiral Panteleyev, Marshal Shaposhnikov and Admiral Vinogradov (in no particular order) and of course Varyag (Slava class cruiser) in the back.
Mazut is just another fuel, somewhere between HFO and Diesel I suppose. We don’t use it, so I don’t know too much about it. I suppose it gives more heat than HFO when burned.
The mazut is not really the cause of the black smoke. That’s Diesel… When we used our diesel to get in port, it started giving this black smoke too, although in a lesser thickness.
The black smoke is mostly generated by overturning your engines, gearing up too fast, going from forward to backward etc. Not good for the engine… I have some excellent pics of those black clouds generated by a Sovremenny. I’ll send to you this evening.
reloading of Barak? I don’t believe that. There is no VLS at the moment that can manually reload VLS missiles… Klinok is laden manually, but no ship carries any reload. So even if they can do it, likely no one is bothering to try this.
I’m talking about Granat, not Granit and even then, Granit only carries 750kg. Granat has about 200kg I think… and with that warhead it wouldn’t really hurt a carrier or other vessel too much.
oh, sorry, Dubna class light fleet oiler…
