RE: Guidelines for World Cup commentators in the U

Funny, sadly true, but what I admire is that the Brits can laugh at themselves. !!

Thats a rare form of maturity – and Ya Brit humour is great.

    RE: Your Birthdays

January 24th 1972 – Someone ask the WM to send us free AFM merchandise on our b’days. Considering the amount of time we spend out here making them popular, its the least they can do.

( hope I dont find myself kicked out of here next time I log in. )

And Happy Birthday to Glenn and all the other blokes whose b’days are coming up.

    yippie !!!!!!!!!!!!!

and like a dumb sod I did not watch the race !!

Monaco is one race where if u get out in front u will stay there unless ur car packs up or u go to sleep. Performance dont count for much.

unfortunately i dont see McLaren winning many more. But how I’d love to be proved wrong.

Eat dirt Schumacher if only for 2 weeks. !!!!!!!!!!

Pathetic – is the only word that comes to mind.

Michael a Sportsman !!!! – my left foot – ask Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve about his sportman like qualities.

I’m off F1 now for sure, especially with my team Mclaren doing so badly.

    RE: Favourite Book

My reading tends to be partial towards military history, geo-politics etc. Some of my favourite authors and books are:

    a. John Masters – Ravi Lancers , Bugles and a Tiger ( great books on the British – Indian army)
    b. Collins and La-Pierre – Is Paris burning / O Jerusalem, city of Joy
    d. John Le Carre – Spy who came in from the cold, Tailor of panama, Our game infact almost all his books ( this man can write)
    e. Leon Uris – QB -VII, Haj
    f. Anthony Bevoor – Stalingrad
    e. Martin Middlebrook – The Schweinfurt Regensburg raids / The Nuremberg raid / The fight for the Malvinas ( I have never seen such fantastic and thorough research ever undertaken by anyone)
    f. Tom Clancy – writes crap, but I must admit I did like some of the battle scenarios in Red Storm Rising.

RE: What Languages do you speak?

English Hindi and Gujarati fluently, a bit of Marathi – can read and understand a bit of French – tried learning German and gave up.

But importantly, I know the swear words in all these languages. }>

    RE: Australia:Defence Review

The Australians dont have much to be afraid of, atleast in defending their homeland. Historically the Aussies have always fought other peoples wars – WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, PGW-2. I consider the Aussie military being more of an offensive force than defensive.

Also, the US would like to have the dominant force in the Indian Ocean to be Australia followed by India, both of these countries to act as a spoiler to any Chinese ambitions in that region. Consequently I see a lot of Australian – Indian co-operation in this region, which is already happening now.

BTW- why doesnt Australia have an air-craft carrier.? Such a huge country that frequently has to project its power far beyond its shores does require a capable air-craft carrier or two.

RE: What are your national holidays?

In India we have a huge no. of holidays. Mainly religious as there are so many religions here. However, this is mainly for the Public sector undertakings. Most of the Pvt. Sector organisations are not so generous giving on an average just 6 days a year.
