I think your speculation is probably right, since looking more closely at the blurb, it would appear to have a date and time at the end, that is to say 6-6-41 at 5.40pm. So I agree with your suggestion that the 15th June was probably the date the photo was received by the paper. There is also a small commentary attached in Spanish, which needs some translation.

I agree Mike J, how can they be a “barn find”, presumably Connie Edwards knew exactly where they were all the time they were in his possession and as for original condition, I dont think so!!!!
I’m with Trolly Aux, footie costs around £50, rugby at Twickenham is about £70/80, Lord’s £65 and Green Fees anywhere are over £30, where else can you get such a fantastic full days entertainment for £27 its a bargain!!
