You can see the British fin flash if you look closely so that would be my guess also..

As a lot of rumours about Mister Jackson, the Dam Busters remake may turn out to be just as false. Along with the rumour of him filming a movie about the Night Witches in Russia.
Gee rumours are wonderful things…….
Xavier Meal, Im surprised he hasnt been mentioned. Great photographer, writer and a all round good guy.
Someone correct me if Im wrong……when the Tiger was released into civil service and given a standard cat certificate of airworthiness the CAA took it as is and certified it (anti spin strakes and all, which were fitted to improve spin recovery when bomb racks were fitted).
This was not the case when the were released in NZ and Australia.
As it stands it makes virtually no difference at all to the spin or spin recovery characteristics of the aircraft, having flown both.
You will also note when looking at a number of NZ Tigers that they dont have slats, again it doesnt make a great difference to the aircraft.
…..Waiting to be shot down…….
Lavochkin or Mosquito for me thanks.
The Singapore Oxford is currently under restoration at Croydon Aircraft Company in Mandeville NZ (although it has halted presently until Singapore Airlines finalise what they want to do, well find out more in the New Year), as Dave mentioned. And the Oxford parts collection sold on Tradme was the same machine on warbirdsite.com, Im not sure who it has gone to but hopefully it will help in someones work.
I think I should be able to hunt out the Oxford panel drawing for you. Ive got it at work somewhere. Ill see what I can sort out.
Ray will always be in our hearts, he will never be forgotten.
We have so many wonderful memories over the years.
An inspiring man.
Kiwis can fly,
RIP Ray.
I was leaning towards Corsair also, just wanted to see what others thought.
Given their location also, Corsair would fit quite well.
Flown, albeit very briefly, by Simon Spencer Bower.
Great guy and an extremely capable pilot (fixed wing and heli).
JDK – All our restoration work uses slotted head brass screws, which funnily enough we get from Australia. Personall I think a restoration would look a bit funny with posi-drive screws.
It will be good to see you Trapper 69 on my home territory, it was great to meet (and compete against) you, hopefully be back again in the not too distant future for another fantastic and friendly aero’s comp. Tracy and I had a great time and it was good to catch up briefly again at Duxford before heading back home.
See you at Mandeville and Wanaka……
For all those attending, just an addition to Dave’s comment re accommodation.
It is often mentioned that accommodation is scarce over the weekend but in past years this has been found to be not quite right.
Yes, a lot of hotels etc are booked solid but you do tend to find that a lot of the locals rent out their homes or holiday houses for the show, and sometimes at quite reasonable cost also (if you have a group of people or can meet up with outhers thid option is great).
If this sounds like a good option get in touch with the local real estate agents in Wanaka and if they dont know Im sure they can put you onto someone who does.
Also there are a number of towns which are quite close, which may also have accommodation, Cromwell (40min approx), Queenstown (1hr but rather $$$), Gore/Mandeville (we usually run flights to the show, weather dependant in the Rapide, Dragonfly etc etc. Its about a 2hr 50min drive or a 50min flight from Mandeville).
See you all there…
Ill be there for sure, most likely all three days….may have the DH90 there on static display, possibly for a new book being launched (may be flying, not too sure at this time). Will probably have the 1910 Pither monoplane replica there also.
It would be great to catch up with any of the forumites attending, also open invitation to come visit us at Mandeville either side of the show.
Will you be stopping by our way John??
No Gemini here that I have seen, I would be very happy if there was.
It would be a nice addition to the collection here and I would delight in flying it.
If anyone has one they would like to give Im sure we would love to proceed on…..
