    RE: Freedom Airlines

As far as I know it was the first airline orientated to Gay people. It was supposed to start a couple of months ago but nothing more about it.

I flew the 340 and it´s quiet, confortable and not too small. Good pitch, space and even spacious racks.

RE: BA’s Deli Service on Shuttles

I think countries are not molonitic, in tastes. I flew supper shuttle sometimes and never had scones, sandwitches or something British on bord, despite being a tourist could find that a nice thing to eat on an English plane. Usually hot croissant with a rich filling, luxurious buns and so on. We can expect all Spanish passengers enjoying a paella on bord or the British a nice Yorkshire Pudding….imagine the germans having a sauerkraut. I think airlines are carefull with this issue and they make regular surveys among passengers to check the degree of satisfation. While working on ERA (Spanish regional airlines) the inflight service was one of the finest in Europe….nice cutelery, china, champagne all over, delicacies like Lobster quiche, basmati rice with macadamia….soft cream merringe with lemon pudding…and so on. We tend to give more Spanish food on bord, because we though people would want familiar menus. You know how good is Spanish cooking. Passengers (mostly Spanish) didn´t like the change. Passengers find eating over the Skies a fun and espect surprises not the regular food served down on earth. Airlines tend to make passengers feel special by giving them fancy food and giving a glamorous look.

Come on Guys, a bit more cosmopolitan approach won´t harm British palates. I love British food but I think it has a lot to learn from other coutries. Food is a pleasure and something to experiment with. You would surprise how British food was so much influenced by other countries. The world is not a shell, or a container and food is getting more internacionalized. I would appreciate a good scone on board, but don´t make patriotic comments with that. It´s not good. Sorry to contradict you.

    RE: Best airline

Well it´s hard to say. Some are puntual, some reliable, some with a nice livery or impressive inflight service…..but lacks in other aspects. But which offers a global good quality. My bet is Lufthansa. Not the best in many aspects, but quite effective in general terms.

    RE: Iberia pilots strike again

I suppose, it´s a case of greed for money. Most of European airlines which were statal a becoming private and these guys don´t know yet, that they can´t rule the manegemente departments of the airlines as in the past, just rule the copit. That´s what they are paid for. The question is that they are really powerful, they know they can stop any airline from flying. Nobody ever confronted them too much and have won all the time. I think there´s a pilots lobby all over Europe which could make things really hard. As far as Iberia is concerned the new owners won´t concede now because it´s not govement money this time but private and the management has to be justified to all stock owners. Could the EU rule against these abuses and interfere in the management of private airlines?….

    RE: Worst Ever Charter Flight

Well, it´s really unfair telling Air Europa is the worst airline, specially after flying just once. I fly very often since it´s the dominant charter in my local airport and also has schedule flights. I want to assure you that is safe, frecuently on time (it suffers delays but due to traffic control like many others) and with a regular inflight service which is good in regular flights. On the other hand is the only airline, for instance whose cabin crew are strickly concious and beligerant with the excess of hand luggage which is on of the most dangerous things in case of a crash. It has been awarded by Boeing for the excellent maintenance. The interiors are well manteined and the look of crew is excelent. It´s a good charter airline.

    RE: Boeing 757-200ERX

Well maybe good for local/regional airports eager of longhaul flights. The main problemn is that main hubs concentrate this flights and the B757 offers more seats and dropping the fares.
Besides the people, don´t like flying on single aisle planes.
It would be good for small countries with not many passengers for long haul like Malta, Nepal, Iceland but with communities living outside. The plane has to be profitable with good cost per seat percentage. It´s perfect for charter airlines to open new long haul destinations.

Good luck for Sabena. In any case, I think someone else would buy it (hope not KLM as you wish). This bring to my mind, one reflexion of Freddie Laker who imagine in the close future a single European Airline to be able to compete American airlines, which are getting through our back yard. Who knows.

RE: National Airlines…….BA,AF etc…. What do u think

Fortunately, national airlines are not “national” any more due that most of them are becoming private and that means, no more
nationalism, monopoly, high prices and so on. So I´ll speak about my favority being or not national ones.
Lufthansa; dull but terribly effective and good.
Air France; French glamour all over.
Iberia; You could get a nice flight and a terrible one depending the crew.
    Alitalia; Stylish.
    Austrian; As a symphony.
SAS; A breath of Scandinavian fresh air.
    Royal Jordanian; Lavish
BA; Friendly crews but terrible uniforms and naff colours.
Sabena; Sweet as a belgian Godiva.
    …and many more.
