RE: Concorde – Whats the story?
Well, I bet for Concorde. VIPS have got used to it and don´t have any alternative in the market to cross the Atlantic. Powerfull people get what they want. I suppose they leave huge amounts of money and I suppose BA doesn´t want to lose them. Taking into account that Boeing is studying faster planes, the most intelligent thing to do is developing the new Concorde. It´s a question of national pride as well.
RE: Tail of two airports
Well, dear Kabir. In Europe we have many hubs really close to each other and there´s space for everyone. In that case, Hong Kong will be much more successfull since the growing of passengers in China is huge the same as the emerging new economy.
RE: Boeing shelves Super Jumbo 747X
Boieng´s philosofy was always: If the classic things work, why should be rejected”. For years they have only stretched, shrink or redesign old concepts. The market has always prefered profitabiliy, costs and few innovation. But fortunately this time, this laziness is over and will demand Boeing to rack a bit more their brains to take something really new. Yellowstone jet flying at match 0,95 is not really something too quick but with a fantastic design. It will have regular engines and an improvement in design. Long live innovation…. I am sure now the new versions of Concorde will be approved.
RE: The Forum is back!
Well done. We were missing it.
RE: BA and it’s Tails!
We have to judge the idea, not some of the design which were not really nice. However some where brilliant. I don´t know why an airline is more “national” if we put the flag on it. Airlines must have a more global image since they operate in international market. Some people sees in this (excesive use of flags), sights of ultrapatriotism, a bit of racism and a lack of elegance. And I don´t want to say that I see it in this way, since I don´t really care what airlines put on their planes. But many passengers out of the UK think this.
RE: Killer Quake strikes
My deep sorrow for the victims.
RE: TWA 800 & Egyptair?
I have talked to a pilot and make some comments about Gulf air crash and he told me that it wasn´t odd at all. Its really feasibly on landing at low speed, over running the runway, for poor visibility. If the plane is too low and with a low speed if you try to pull up and regain altitude, the plane needs space to go up. So close to the sea its feasible that it might hit the the water on trying to go up again, unbalance the place and make it stall. Or simply stall due to loss of sustentation (is that called like this is Enlglish?)
RE: spectators areas in the UK airports.
Thanks again to anyone for your recommendations.
RE: concord test flight
Well, Concorde will be back in service soon. Americans, despite their sayin they were not interested in supersonic flights, are developing a new supersonic aircraft (Boeing) which will be able to fly at small costs with 250 passengers and sonic sound speed. Europeans have the advantage and should learn and develop the new Concorde soon. So more supersonic flights in the future
RE: Alliances
Alliances are a good way for the airlines to guarantee the high yield passengers which are the ones who interest the airlines. I don´t find them too positive since it means, less competition, big monopolies, higher prices, and a threaten to small independent airlines, which are the ones which take the risk of operating in regional markets, because it too hard for a competetion in the hubs.
RE: spectators areas in the UK airports.
Thanks guys. So I suppone there´s not any open terrace like in LHR or LGW in any of these airports, isn´t it?. Since I don´t have a car, I´ll try at Glasgow, at the top bar, and I´ll have a look.
RE: Holiday Airlines – Is their service up to scratch?
Anyway, the sacrifice is worthy. Crete is fantastic. Have a great time.
RE: Holiday Airlines – Is their service up to scratch? MONARCH!!!
I think British charters are superior to any one from other nationalitiy. They set standards. The best one is without any doubt Monarch. The worst, JMC. For bad service, I say….British Midland and their…..”only salad” for European flights for High fares. Dan Air was superb, I am a bit partial to it I have to confess. British Caledonian was a great airline, specially flying
the Bac 1-11 which is the finest ever built.
RE: Poll for club
Thanks guys, for the votes, but there are better candidates.
RE: WHY IT IS SO MUCH MORE FOR TRAVELLER’S IN SCOTLAND
That´s right. It happens the same in my SCQ. It is supposed that some places have higher fares, because:
-No competence.
-High yield passangers.
-Lack of traffic to compensate empty seats and
-Airlines tend to abuse the public as much as they can. In airports with lots of flights they have to lower the prices because they are many alternative.
THAT´S RIGHT I´LL will be visiting Edinburgh on the first weekend of February I couldn´t get reasonale fares to get there. I have to fly LDL and then train to EDI.
