    RE: LHR – Terminal 5?

Sure, I agree. I think this happens because operating a regional jet is not as profitable as it should be or is in the states where operating costs are lower than in here. I think regional jets have been designed for the american market. Costs should be reduced at all costs, if we want the regional flights to succeed (at least not only for high yield passangers who pay high fares).

Well, I don´t know what to say. But everthing is too odd.
I go for the missile theory in TW800 and stabilizators malfunction in MS (due to manufacturer failure).

    RE: LHR – Terminal 5?

We have to consider one thing. Now having big hubs is trendy among airlines. It´s quite profitable concentrating everything in megahubs. LHR like many others have absorved many flights which previously operated from other regional airports like
Birmingham, Manchester and so on. It seems that in the future the local communities will be asking for more direct flights from their places and independant airlines will continuing offer them. Regional planes are booming and there are having new flights (even transatlantic) everywhere….if this happens,
Could we see in the future a decrease in traffic and flights in LHR?. I think diversification in terms of flights should be promoted. It would be good for everyone, for pax using LHR and for other forced to use it. If terminal 5 is built, this desirable change would never happen and the skies, which is the real problemn will be much more congested. Sending flights to other airports would be good but in short term only.

    RE: Ugliest Aircraft?

The nicest for me are all the former British models:
VC-10, Trident and specially the Bac-1-11 which is the best.
I like the Airbuses, except the future A318 and tha A330 which looks like a A340 without two engines. I find the B757 beautiful indeed and the Russian ones are great too. The L1011 is very smart. And a really ungly are Casa 212, Let 410, Metro, Dornier
22…something, and some other regional ones (Twin Otter). I like the Bae 146/avros, not because they are nice but curious and funny

    RE: Iberia

I think you should suggest them to fly there. I don´t know if they will receptive to your comments, but what I assure you is that they always answer to all suggestions. http://www.iberia.com. As far as fleet is concerned they have just phased out the DC-10 and they use A340, B747-200 and 300, and B767-300. Although the B747-200 is in good shape, it will to be replaced soon and the final decission is under consideration. With the purchase of Air Europa they will have new B767-200 and 300.
    Best wishes

    RE: Iberia

Thanks for your comments. As far as Eastern destinations are concerned, Iberia flew to Bombay, Sydney and Tokyo quite a long time ago (in the seventies and eighties) but they ceased operations due to small occupancy, but they using big B747. As far as, everytime the airline wants to expand operations they have this markets in mind. I suppose they think there´s not market enough since there are not a big indian community in Spain or in other Far Eastern countries. The natural market of Iberia is obviously South American, being the one of the airline in the world with the most extensive number of destinations. Within Oneworld, I think many BA passangers are using Iberia flights to reach points where BA doesn´t operate in interchange, IB passangers to the Far east are taken by BA. One of the reason for adquiring Air Europa is having as well as slots, many planes and crews to grow since the economic performance is being quite brilliant. With new B767, probably many markets will be added.
In terms image, a major change is under way. I hope they improve service in domestic flights which resambles too much to “peanuts and drinks” even in longer flights like SCQ-BCN.

    RE: LHR – Terminal 5?

Not at all. Skies are overcrowed, polutes and air traffic is being a nighmare in many superhubs like LHR. There are lots of small airports around London which should developed. If we develop the high speed trains much more for domestic and European dstinations Heathrow will be big enough. The absence of slots will make A380 solve many problems as well in many high density and long haul markets. The enviroment problemns are being quite important.

    RE: Ugliest Aircraft?

Well, it´s hard to say. I also think any plane isn´t agly. I particularly dislike the stretched versions like the B757-300, B767-400 and 777-300. Unly indeed is the TU-334.

    RE: British Airways Tails

Well, you may dislike the tails, but saying they are crap is not fair for all the designers, artists and painters who have made them. Don´t worry about what people say in other countries, because some others, like me, say sometimes “How brilliant and creative were these british to have painted the tails like that”.

Wait, wait…there´s a long time until it comes into service. I suppose most of the things are still under consideration.

    RE: A380

The name is probably due that number eight is lucky in the Far Eastern countries and we have to think that these market is essential for the 380. That´s something trivial, but I think the numbers 350, 360, and 370 are kept for other models to be developed in the future.

Not only that, but also the planns for a newer, more ecological and cheaper to operate Concorde are going to materialize. These are fantastic news for the European technology and I am glad of it.

RE: How is Turkish Airlines ?

Well, I have just flown once. The inbound flight was ok, despite the plane was a B727 all painted in white and the windows were so dirty that I thought there was fog landing in Istambul
(it was bright) the return flight with a regular plane was enjoyable, regular and with no relevants details.
