Saudi Mirage 5 SDE seen in France in 1975 – what happened to those birds? I heard that they were used very shortly, and than given to Egypt. Correct?

I suspect those are actually DH-112 Venoms rather than Vampires.

And thanks for the great pics. ๐Ÿ™‚ We need pics a lot more than we need bickering about who is really what ๐Ÿ˜€

Temperate climate. Could be Europe, US, etc.
The straight roads point to one of the former colonies rather than Europe.

So I’d guess it’s the US, one more civvie light plane victim of the post 9/11 paranoia.

2003, indeed. My bad. In 1990-91, they did as I said.

QUOTE=Canpark;1070074]NO NO RESISTANCE AT ALL, NOT A SINGLE FIGHTER GOT OF THE GROUND

Not correct. At the begining, a few fighters took off. And got promptly shot down.

And BTW, the bribing story is pure bullsh!t. In some cultures, they just can’t accept their failures and have to invent some stories to avoid facing it.
In that part of the world, combined with oversize macho pride and the need to overcompensate for the humiliations of all these defeats, it is rampant. (Very good IMO, this way they avoid learning from it and improving ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ )

Also, how much fuel did the combined fuel tank & rocket pod carry? What about the combined fuel tank with bomb racks? How many bombs of what sizes and how much fuel did it carry?

Did you bother to look at wikipedia?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dassault_Mirage_III

the Matra JL-100 drop tank/rocket pack, each containing 19 SNEB 68 mm rockets and 250 liters (66 U.S. gallons) of fuel.

Would the Kfir operated in the US. be designated an F-20 Lion?

The original batch of Kfirs leased by the USMC was called F-21A Lion. Those were the first kfir version, the one called now “C-1” (was just “kfir” at the time).

Rumor is that the C-2s now in service with ATAC are called F-21C, but I never saw firm confirmation of this.

And no, F-21s were not used to train the Brits. It is only France who betrayed their customer, who once more betrayed their customer, and disclosed Etendards ops characteristics to the Brits.
Once more, because of course they have a history of it: some will remember that France had also betrayed its customer Israel in 1968-9 and sold to the Arabs the Mirage 5s, which embodied the learnings and the combat experience of the IDF/AF. Going as far as delivering them to Khadaffi for eventual us by the EAF.
    Yuck.

    With unusual weapons

It would be great to see some with some unusual weapons- PGM’s, stand-off PGM’s BVRAAM’s etc.
