The original batch of Kfirs leased by the USMC was called F-21A Lion. Those were the first kfir version, the one called now “C-1” (was just “kfir” at the time).

Rumor is that the C-2s now in service with ATAC are called F-21C, but I never saw firm confirmation of this.

And no, F-21s were not used to train the Brits. It is only France who betrayed their customer, who once more betrayed their customer, and disclosed Etendards ops characteristics to the Brits.
Once more, because of course they have a history of it: some will remember that France had also betrayed its customer Israel in 1968-9 and sold to the Arabs the Mirage 5s, which embodied the learnings and the combat experience of the IDF/AF.
