Yesterday I watched the 1958 Dunkirk movie, with John Mills and Richard Attenborough.A bit laccking in the aerial department apart from a WW2 clip of some Stukas. There were plenty of soldiers on the beach. Not to bad a film I thought-had’nt aged too badly.
Can’t wait,looks really good.Can I reccomend some reading?
Dunkirk-The Men They Left Behind by Sean Longden
Makes you realise how badly those who did’nt get away were treated .
I come on here perhaps once a day.I always read the Duxford posts.Loved the ME 109 replica posts. The “what have I found” posts don’t really do alot for me,so I don’t read them-as easy as that.!!
Thanks for posting all those photos.I first started to go to Duxford in the early
’70s with my late father. He had learned to fly in the Fleet Air Arm.He owned a half share in a glider and was a member of Cambridge University Gliding Club who were based there then.Gliders were winch launched and there wasI think
a caravan or similar at the M11 end that served as a club house.Whilst waiting your turn for a flight (I had to sit on a cushion and have extra ballast) you were free to wonder wereever you wanted.
