A mainplane on the stress test airframe failed at 127 FI.
Just thought you’d like to know.

so would this leave the aircraft as airworthy condition yet with Lifex mainplanes?

bit of idle curiosity here Vitor Sim, but at 133kts she would have to be tantalisingly close to rotate speed would she not?

Little bit more on WK800’s history,

it served in the RAAF as A77-876, delivery date was 3 May 1953, 55 years ago tomorrow

in October 1960 it was converted to a D.21A before it was converted to a D.16 some time after its return to the UK

EDIT: i have spoken to some knowledgeable parties who have confirmed that WK800 has been heavily spares recovered for the MB Meteors, all airworthy spares have been removed and most replaced with lifex items, leaving an around 80% complete aircraft for say a restoration to ground running but it is far from flightworthy.

In answer to the question of remaining fatigue life, i was informed that it has consumed around 75% of its fatigue life, so there is still life in the airframe however there would be a massive amount of work involved in returning it to flight.
