er, having French Guyana, why would they operate feom Senegal?

had it been the French, you’d have had two aircraft carriers armed with Crusaders for air to air and Super Etendards for bombing, among other nice things, and the Foreign Legion on the ground… Chances are Argentina wouldn’t even try that stunt

they probably could’ve operated from St Pierre or another French South Antarctic Island, much closer to Falklands than Senegal.

Indonesia needs a lot of things (in the military-industrial realm) more than it needs a handful of 5th gen hanger queens.

Buy Gripen, stick with KF-X, build a modern and professional air force whilst encouraging local industry involvement and development to the greatest extent practicable. A decade from now Indonesia can look at the state of the market (and progress with KF-X) and consider T-50, F-35, and whatever else is on the market and fits operational and politico-strategic objectives.

no progress with kfx. its like the eads mako

indonesia has some potential problems with malaysia which has good flankers. its okay with australia now but should warrant something to match their f-35s and singapores f-35s as well. in that case j-20 might not cut it because of its lack of power and questionable radar technology. pak-fa it is.

egypt depends if saudis will buy it for them. in which case j-31 probably fits them better because russia will not dare anger israel.

actually i disagree. the j-20 probably has developed avionics, radar, etc. the design shows stronger focus on stealth but at the sacrifice of subsonic manouverability. pak-fa is reverse, they sacrifice some stealth with the inlet and exposed engines but likely better manouverability at both supersonic and subsonic.
