Great diagrams, Eddie.
There’s also a description of the manoeuvre and associated speeds etc. on this RCAF 429 sqn. research web site.

My favourite 8th Airforce Mustang scheme is the 78th FG’s “Big Beautiful Doll”.
I have always liked the black-and-white chequerboarding on the nose complete with red edging stripe. It looks a simple, yet bold scheme.
For a P-51B model, my favourite scheme is Don Gentile’s “Shangri-La” of the 4th FG.

Also, the Blenheim Mk1 nose section used as a car.
Hope they told the DVLA that it’s kept off the road now. 🙂

Thanks for sharing this letter with us, we do appreciate it.
Thanks also to the many people like Lloyd English. Lest we forget.

Here’s a couple from way back. Sorry for the quality.

There was the “Battle of Britain Wargame” inside Flypast’s B of B 50th anniversary issue.
Does anyone remember it? Or had a go at playing it?
I didn’t. It’s still stapled to the centre of the magazine. 😀

Top notch stuff, especially listening to the stories recounted by the veterans.

Shuttleworth’s Avro Tutor, especially in that colour scheme.

Midland Counties are pretty good.
I’ve been over to their last couple of aviation sale days when these have been advertised in Flypast. I think they are generally mail order and not sure whether they are open to the public on normal days. Someone here will probably confirm.
They also do transport/railway stuff also if that is of interest to you.

Paul
Many thanks for your reply, Chris.
I’ve got the throttle setting to work on the joystick by going to the HOTAS control panel in IL-2 and altering the power setting from
“-u slider axis” to “-z-axis”.
To be honest, I’ve never given much notice to this panel before, so your suggestion to reconfigure the functions has done the trick. 🙂
Thanks again!

Paul
Doug passed away in the first 2 weeks of November 1992, according to Flypast’s news section of the February 1993 edition.
