We will watch out for you, so be on your best behavior as a representative of this forum! 🙂
Good luck with the dig, it’s a program I’m really looking forward to watching.

Ah, this brings back memories!
Clicked on the link to watch the film, but if I remember correctly, I don’t think the simulator had the commentary?

Here’s a picture of XE601 with a slightly different paint scheme. Taken at RIAT circa 1987.

In this month’s Flypast there is mention of tentative plans to bring the Liberty Belle II to the UK for a commemorative tour, after she has toured the States. Hope so.

And I am lucky enough to be part of the German dig. cheers – Allan125
Can we watch out for you?
Will you give us forum members a recognised sign/nod to the camera or a coded message we can pick up on? 😀 😉

Splendid idea for the over 70’s to get into Duxford free of charge, however, I too suspect it wouldn’t be possible to administer in time for the D-Day Anniversary show (even if they agreed to it in principle). Perhaps they would seriously consider it for the next big event, such as the 60th Anniversary of VE day?

There’s a little snippet in this month’s Flypast on the rebuild. It says that the aircraft has been rebuilt to airworthy condition, but there are no plans to fly the machine at this time.
A nice effort and an interesting paint scheme.
Regards,
Paul
Thanks Chad. I didn’t know there were so few airworthy examples.
Looking forward to seeing ‘Princess Elizabeth’ when she takes to the air once again. 🙂 😎

Paul
Anyone know how may P-51B/C’s are airworthy? They must be quite rare?
Thanks for reposting the pictures LAHARVE.

Hello setter,
Thanks for posting. Hope she flies for a good few more years.
Here’s a picture I took of Belfast G-BFYU at the RIAT, circa 1987. I believe she ended up being used for spares until finally scrapped by Heavy Lift sometime in 2000/2001?

Paul
Congratulations Steve, Well done! 🙂

Yeah, I got the same effect with Concorde taxiing back after it’s last landing at Filton. How I laughed… 😡

Thanks indeed, BlueNoser.

NASA use a KC-135 ‘Vomit Comet’ to achieve a zero gravity effect for approximately 25 seconds per manoeuvre. Check link below:

I believe it was used during the filming of ‘Apollo 13’ with Tom Hanks.

Enjoyable read. It’s nice to hear you had a memorable stay.
Well, we’ve seen the beer ratings you’ve given (mmmm, nice), we now want to know which were your favourite aircraft.
(Only so we can put them under lock and key)…
