Good job it was not me operating the checkout, I would have scanned every item about three of four times,
and if she noticed what I was doing I would have said “Sorry Madam but I was so interested in your conversation that I lost track of what I was doing.” And if she didn’t then think of the profit I had clocked up. :highly_amused:
I’d be interested to know what the security level is like at Sculthorpe
(Not that I have any intention of going there)Going by the pictures in the link of my original post, there seemed to be no problem in them going into
the old buildings and tower.
Is it still patrolled by the MOD police, or (more likely) a civilian security company. Or is it not patrolled ?
The only part with “keep out” signs, seems to be the runway area. Most of the buildings being either
demolished or derelict. Is the industrial area fenced off from the rest of the airfield ?
Alan according to a couple of people I have talked to, say You can get onto the base from the industrial estate and Wicken Green, but are soon stopped by security men, It appears that they can see you, but you can’t see them. Might nip up there and have a look myself when I can get a day off.
Am sure that you would be committing trespass if you went on there.
Fencing is still all around it, not sure if civil security is used.
Know someone, who knows, so will find out for you.
They usually send their ground crew and fuel tankers up by road.
I have a picture of it somewhere and it is a simple plaque on the wall set above a small floral memorial and the inscription simply remembers those who died in the raid, as far as I recall. I will try to find the picture.
I can’t upload it but my quick free translation reads ” To the French patriots who died as martyrs on the 18th February 1944 in this barbaric Nazi prison”.
The mind boggles at how these departments come to decisions. 🙁
The Laws are all on web sites, just google, but have a glass of water and a bottle of aspirin ready because you will have a hellava headache trying to understand what’s legal or not. 😀
These are just 4 cases of law abiding citizens, just trying to work hard and be happy.

It worked out ok in the end. 🙂 But they should never have gone through so much agro.

Look at all the undesirables living here we can’t kick out and they hit a low priority soft target like him.I am more disgusted by that than what he did in the first place.
Its not that they are hitting a low priority soft target. Its obvious that his visa was up for renewal, and was declined (as many others are which don’t hit the news.)
And the same thing will happen enough protests then, the visa will be granted.

Are they saying he’s got to leave the UK because he disrupted the boat race, even though he served 6 months in prison (which seems a little over the top anyway)? If so, seems somewhat extreme considering he has a British wife and child, and yet the likes of Qatada (that are real threats) are a nightmare to get rid of.
No they are saying.
“We refused this individual leave to remain because we do not believe his presence in this country is conducive to the public good.”
Which to me implies that we don’t know what other activities he has been getting up too.
