S/L Henry Wallace “Wally” McLeod, RCAF was flying a Spitfire Mk-321. On 19 April 1944 he shot down Me-110 Werk number 740148 G9+HZ from 11./NJG1 which came down at Kappellen,8 km north of Tirlemont Belgium, killing pilot Uffz Wachtel Alfred.
The plate: BAUART 110B WERK-NR 220 SACH-NR 84500 would have been attached to a component of the same plane, unfortunately it does not include the makers name, so cannot identify component.
Bauart = construction type. 110B so fits Me 110B (Possible others)
Sach-nr 845500 = Drawing number of the component.
Werk-NR 220 = Works number of the manufacturer of the component.

Gas was not used as it had already been agreed upon that it would only be used as a last resort.
And as in ww1 it was found to be as lethal to those that employed it, than it was them that it was intended for. The Public would also be against it.
>’Would not work’. We don’t know that, because as far as I’m aware, it has never been used in the circumstance that I describe.>
I know it would not work, same as I know square wheels don’t work.
< The Okinawa cave entrances were assaulted by infantry with conventional arms and flamethrowers. Once a cave entrance is cleared of the enemy then preparation to pump in gas could begin. If you watch the American assault unfold, it is apparent that, perhaps because of the uneven terrain, none of the cleared cave entrances were covered by enemy flanking fire. So, the gas assault teams could go about their tasks relatively unmolested. >
Most of those caves, bunkers and sniper pits were not connected to the main tunnels. So would be pointless pumping gas into a hole that has already been cleared.
Now if you are gassing rabbits in a warren then every rabbit hole has to be blocked up, otherwise gas comes out. So the Americans could be pumping gas in one hole and the Japanese diverting it out of another hole on the other side of the hill and straight at the troops behind the lines.
As the Japanese were in positions above the Americans, they did not need to have flanking fire, they shot downwards.
< The transportation and handling of the most readily available mustard gas was well understood. Accidents can and do occur and in war there is a greater propensity for this to happen. That apart, I wonder if there was any kind of feasibility study to determine the effectiveness of the use of gas in this particular theater of war.>
Apparently there was a study. but nothing came of using gas.
The simple reason gas was not used was because it would not work.
First an entrance had to be found where the gas could be pumped in, then while you are preparing your equipment, the Japanese who were watching you, and throwing shells and bullets at you. They would simply block the tunnel from their end.
Then you would have to go through the process of fighting for another entrance.
There is also the danger of killing more of your own people in the transportation and use of the gas.

One can understand that couples feelings, when you read something like this, talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

Interesting question.
I have a feeling that the registration of American deaths would be initially down to the Quartermaster of the airfield where the crew were at, in this case RAF Wendling. US Station 118.
Where he would place the burials on the weekly report which would be sent to the Quartermaster General in Washington. Where they would be registered on the American system.
But it does raise the question did they have to be registered before burial?
This report no 77 19th March 1944. Crew on page 2.
CD you said
Dementia is different; dementia is currently an incurable mental disability. Being ignorant is not!
This implies that you consider her ignorant so I asked this question
So being born with a learning difficulty, is just plain ignorance is it?
You finally answered
No, since you ask, being born with a learning difficulty is not ‘just plain ignorance’…
…but I do not see what that has to do with this case?
Which I answered with “Exactly.”
You answered with
Exactly what?
You think that a woman who you think doesn’t have ‘learning difficulties’ should not be penalised because you think that she has ‘learning difficulties’?
Exactly means I agree with you “you do not see what that has to do with this case?”
Your second question. I do not think anything of the sort nor have I mentioned my thoughts on that.
You previously said.
I disagree. I think it is absolutely right that this young woman should be ridiculed!
I’m sure she isn’t as clueless as this about other aspects of her life; in my opinion she chose what to devote whatever intelligence she has to and so chose not to be better informed about what exactly the ‘refeyendum’ will mean to her…
This just shows that you are like the boyfriend and wish to ridicule this young lady and others who do not have the same abilities as yourself, in front of the whole world. Just to prove that you are superior to them.
And in my view that is not the way Gentlemen should behave. Goodbye.
Exactly.
Who says that she has a ‘learning difficulty’? You?
Nobody as far as I know.
You said this
Dementia is different; dementia is currently an incurable mental disability. Being ignorant is not!
So I asked the question.
So being born with a learning difficulty, is just plain ignorance is it?
You failed to answer said question.
So being born with a learning difficulty, is just plain ignorance is it?
If that was brought in then it would cease to be a democracy and become dictatorship.
Whether this clip is true or fake should be of no consequence, it’s just completely wrong to post it.
Is this forum going to accept clips of members parents suffering from dementia trying to explain why they voted one way or the other?
…she is the perfect advertisement for abolishing the ‘one vote’ system of democracy!
And replace with what?
It would not make a jot of difference which way she voted.
But if she had voted to remain, then it is possible that it would not have been posted in the first place.
I don’t have any toys.
So you think it’s a joke to make fun of someone who has not got 100% intelligence.
Its not P.C. It’s more about respecting other people.
This thread should be immediately taken off and the boyfriend kicked in the goulies.
As it is blatant abuse of a young lady, who has the courage to actually VOTE.
Bruce your original post on Norwich.
As a side note, last night, in Norwich, just a few hundred yards from my daughters school, an Eastern European supermarket was firebombed, following a ‘Remain’ rally in the city centre. The good people of Norwich have rallied round to help the unfortunate owner, who was asleep upstairs with her daughter at the time, and have thus far raised more than £15,000 to assist with repairs. The intention was to raise just £500. Hate and distrust is out there already. In the main, we don’t see the sights you post links to in this country. There is no reason why it would start – unless we go down the road of trying to forcibly remove people who would do us no harm.
You phrased your post simply to stir things up, I merely pointed out the story as it was and the police reaction to it.
The term ‘Supermarket’ doesn’t imply a Tesco. No a supermarket is a large shop which sells most types of food and other goods needed in the home.
which you then agreed to.
It’s a shop that predominantly sells Eastern European food.
But you still have to bring up, the unacceptable face of Brexit.
Implying that the arson was committed by someone who voted Leave.
I don’t know who did it, you don’t and the Police don’t (at the time of writing).
Now a Referendum was held and those who voted Leave had the most votes so they are the winners.
However the losers had decided that they should have won, so start holding demonstrations.
No problem with that. But by their actions of being sore losers are they not the ones stirring up trouble?
Now the person or persons who committed this arson attack are probably just tanked up thugs who have no regard of anyone, regardless of who they are and have used the demonstration to stir up more trouble. They probably did not even vote anyway.
On the positive side the rising fund must show that there are more good people out there than bad.
No I do not want to know the way people who donated to this fund voted.
With regard to the Mars link, I would have to assume this was an on going business position. They haven’t just decided it in the last two weeks…
No but they knew the referendum was going to happen and still had the confidence to invest 23 million which ever way the vote went.
It’s just a shame that the inner and outer’s don’t have the same confidence and stop slinging mud at each other and get on with life.
