It was not Firebombed nor was it a Supermarket.
    Full story here.

A brick was thrown through the window at the Village Shop on Magdalen Street at around 2.30am on Friday. A fire was then started inside and the front door was also broken.

Detective Inspector Chris Burgess of Norwich CID, said: “We are aware of suggestions this may have been a racially motivated incident and whilst there is currently no information to suggest this to be the case we will of course keep an open mind.

“We are treating this as a deliberate ignition, an arson, at this stage and the investigation is on going.”

    Here’s another bit of news.

Who is going to take the Blame for that?

    trekbuster Bye, Nige.

So at least I have one bit of good news today. I am sure others will disagree.
So I would guess the internal struggle that was due to see Carswell ousted has not worked in Farage’s favour. Is this the third time he has gone? Or was the last one so momentary it doesn’t count.

You have not heard the last of him yet.

But this time he insisted he would not go back on the decision – although he will continue as an MEP and indicated he hoped to play a role in the process of negotiating the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union.

He said he would guard against any “appeasement” or “backsliding” by ministers implementing the result of the Brexit referendum.

In a speech in London, Mr Farage said: “During the referendum campaign, I said I want my country back. What I’m saying today is I want my life back, and it begins right now.”

Douglas Carswell, the party’s only MP, has been locked in a bitter feud with Mr Farage but ruled himself out of a leadership bid.

“The chances of me standing to be Ukip leader are somewhere between nil and zero,” he told the BBC’s Daily Politics.

I am just glad that I have no children who would have had their long term futures betrayed by a such a small majority of their elders.

Or Secured, Protected. Just wish I could see the future so clear, as some people can.

Surely all children’s future is determined by the their elders

Two seconds of ‘Googling’ on their part could have avoided this blunder!

Same could be said for the organisers of the memorial service.
Why did it have to be held the day before a national voting day?

A strange old world, 70 odd years after a Major battle in which a Hotel was involved, which then became an icon for that battle.
Also become a meeting place for veterans, whom soon, there will be none left.
It has been up for sale the last two years.
It was sold, said to become a care home. Everything’s ok.
But as soon as the owner decides that it would be better to demolish it and build something else, it suddenly becomes something that must be saved at all costs.

Now we are being asked to protest against this action and vilify the owner, who appears to have not done anything wrong or gone against any planning or contract of sale agreements.

I would love to see this historic hotel remain a monument for the men who gave their lives to preserve freedom, but feel that this is the wrong way to go about it.

Why in the last 72 years has no one bothered to organise a trust to buy it and look after it, or get it classed as a listed building?
Pretty sure that if this building was in England it would now be owned by the National Trust or on Historic England’s list of listed buildings.

If these people had joined the electoral roll when they turned 18, then they would have received their voting cards about a fortnight ago the same as I did.

I would say that you are right about the pubs. but way out with your calculations of the distances.

Lets say our starting point is the Good intent Pub which is close to the airfield.
(The Good Intent pub, formerly with a large concrete, planetarium-like dome next door (used for training airgunners), still exists on the Southend Road, was popular with the aircrews, and has an interesting collection of photos of the Station.)

To The Bull in Romford as the crow flies is approx. 2.6 mls.
to The Angel in Rainham atcf is approx. 1.6 mls. so both would be well in range of a fit airman on shanks pony, quicker still on a bike.

Note; there is also, The Bell pub, close to the Angel in Rainham.
