I’d reckon a clipped winged Mk14 might just be able to keep up with the Merlin powered ’51’s but would never be a winning machine :diablo:
LOL Yes Americans are good at making machines go fast in a straight line, but turning seems to escape them.
Got mine today and I must say very well done to all involved.
For Canadian’s better have $11.00 Can. handy to cover the Canadian taxes.

Never did hear what the outcome was other than the person who put the poles up was a idiot.
The 109 was at Redbull a few weeks ago with Rick Volker displaying it.Will be at a little show in Midland Ontario in a few weeks, then in August it is out of service due to Prop annual ( no Thunder over Michigan )

I heard yeasturday at the CFB Trenton that the 109 wing has been removed and is in a repair shop here in Canada getting the damage fixed. Did not get a timeline on how long it will take and when it will be back in the air.
It is still on the list for the Thunder over Michigan show in the next few weeks, fingers crossed.

What is very clear is that the pilot not only managed to bring the a/c back to the airfield without further incident but subsequently went on to display other vintage a/c so soon afterwards. All credit to him for his skill and professionalism
Amen to that. It is always a pleasure to have JR and AW over here for the show, true gentlmen and gifted pilots.

Spent the last 2 days at the Russell show. The poles were put up 1 week before the 2008 show which caused a few acts to cancel that show due to the poles. The incident happened on thursday evening on a test flight of the 109 which was being readied for the show. Their has been ledal action in place since 2008 to have the poles removed from that location, legal action is very slow here in Canada. I was told the poles were just a inch or two below the legal limit and were set very deep and concrete with the concrete pyramided up the base of the pole approx 3-4feet to prevent anyone from cutting it down. As far as I can see the poles were put up to try and close Mr. Russell’s strip. On friday their was alot of police and Department of Transport people investigating the accident.
The most important thing is John R. made it back to the strip un-injured. I feel a foot one way or the other and this could have been very worst. John and Alan did a wonderful job in the Spitfire and Hurricane on Saturday with the CWH Lancaster.

I made up this video to help out the CWH in their drive to raise funds to get FM213 back to airworthy status. After many hours and a few re-do’s it is done, but their is a spelling mistake in the intro ( yup im a idiot )
So if you could spread the word and feel free to link the video.
