I was reading an article about the new laser based countermeasures systems that are being developed to dupe the guidance mechanism of IR guided missiles by targeting the guidance head with a laser to confuse the missile.

“Being developed”? The system is called LAIRCM, and its been in service for a while now.

The Geoeye satellite sent up a while back actually captured an image of the missile in flight:

The S-500 and S-1000 are the next generation of systems and are being developed. The S-500 is a mobile ABM/ASAT type system, with the S-1000 being the new follow-on to the S-300P/400 series. The S-400 is basically an evolution of the S-300P, don’t forget, not exactly a thoroughly new system designed from the ground up.

5N66 is an early CLAM SHELL model, later versions were 76N6. 36D6 is TIN SHIELD. CHEESE BOARD is not an official codename.

The S-300/400 complexes are controlled by a central control post:
-for S-300P: 5N83
-for S-300PM: 83M6
-For S-400: 30K6

Each complex has a command post and a battle management radar of the BIG BIRD family. They can formulate target tracks for assignment to engagement radars, and can also accept inputs from other radar sources as well.

Dude, read the last bit in that foxnews link:

DelMonte and Dole are two separate entities.

It needn’t last that long but such a situation would be very bad for Israel.

That’s my point, it didn’t mean anything last time they tried it. There is too much infighting between various sects of Islam for this to ever work on any serious level.
