They’ve been fooling around with a carrier designed to operate a naval FLANKER.

They’re apparently indigenously building or modifying a navalized FLANKER and testing it at CFTE.

At this point, the prospects of the Varyag floating around with PLANAF fighters onboard, in the form of FLANKERs, is very high, I’d say. Probably still a ways down the road, but looks a lot more probable than it did a few years ago when they were just messing with the carrier.

OK, I know I’m not the only one. Who else here saw the thread title and immediately thought of The Great Rock ‘N Roll Swindle 😀

She’s stated that she loves the idea of Ridley doing the next film, but of course she can’t be in it…that blows apart the continuity of Alien!

Georgia already has SPYDER SAM systems. Israeli aid may be their best option given the SPYDERs and UAVs already imported, but come on, “deter Russia from starting another war’? Clearly that means they asked the USA for nuclear warheads, because that’s really what it’d take.

I thought we were speaking of missiles that were/are in service…

I did not know that ASALM had an A2A mode.

Well, R-37 and KS-172 were mentioned and are either not in service (R-37) or exist only as hype right now (KS-172)…and ASALM was at least flight tested in PTV form.

Is it just me, or was the ASALM the missile launched at Superman?

If that wasn’t ASALM then they did a pretty good job of mimicking one!

Well, we were talking BVR AAMs…..

So the only Nuke AAM ever put into service = Hughes GAR-11/AIM-26 Falcon

Yeah, but the ASALM did have an air-to-air mode, and it was nuke armed.

Looks kinda like they shrunk a Yankee SSBN. The outer hull does look much cleaner than that of any of the Deltas.

a nice cover story ,and how conveniently true because it does serve that as secondarie function. also in some experiments like icbm shield ,space warping ,forming vaccum tunnels to surface ,comunicating with submarines …and some other.

That link is talking about a whole different radar. Those images are of the Duga-3 OTH radar site near Chernobyl (half of it, the system is bistatic and the other half is quite a good bit away). Those most definitely were part of the ABM network, but they have both been dismantled (there was another bistatic unit near Komsomolsk in the Far East).

    Two completely different systems.

And no, this isn’t what they use to talk to submarines.
