Pakistan I can agree with. Their strategic air defense arrangement, a solitary HQ-2 battery near Islamabad, is laughable. China is partly accurate as I have yet to see any evidence of an S-300P series facility anywhere near the southwestern region of China. But the system is mobile, and if needbe they could’ve send it down there.
9M82 isn’t that much faster, 2400 m/s versus 2100 m/s for the 48N6. 48N6DM probably uses an enhanced warhead and higher impulse motor to both increase the speed envelope of the target set and increase the range of the SAM.

S-300PMU is the export version of the S-300PS. I have no idea why they went from PS to PMU.
PMU-1/2 are export versions of the S-300PM (the two variants may be designated S-300PM-1 and PM-2 in Russian service). Right now only the PM-1 is in service. Adding the PM-2 at this point is redundant as the S-400 is now being introduced into service.
S-300VM still appears to be a trials program at this point.

I meant PMU-2 was available in 2001, not PMU-1. Typo. It was displayed earlier as Favorit but not fully ready for export.
The problem with the S-300V is that it is designed as a tactical air defense system. It is designed to protect ground maneuver forces, not large areas such as cities or large military bases. For that kind of capability, you need the S-300PMU-2 with the new 48N6E2 missile. It gives you a directional warhead that has been shown in testing to be able to eliminate incoming warheads. Bearing in mind what India wanted out of their ABM system, I could’ve told you right off that the S-300V was not the right answer.

Do you have specific numbers on the number and type of S-300 systems currently deployed in Russia? Or your blog (link please?) Or are they at best estimates – since I haven’t seen official figures released per variant. You could probably figure out the S-400 though looking at serial deployment schedule.
S-400: open press reporting says that there are two batteries operational outside Moscow, the first being at Electrostal.
S-300P: they still operate the S-300PT, S-300PS, and S-300PM.
