a family member of mine went through a bad couple of years when much younger as a result of a thyroid problem which was only diagnosed after much pressure from the family…..
This person was prone to violent mood swings in a matter of minutes and when on the low side was suicidal….
A simple blood test solved the problem – but took a lot of hard work and pressure to get one done.
Unfortunatley- society puts such a stigmata on depression that most people are afraid to seek out help. In addition to the depression itself, they fear being ostracized or being thought of as “weak” or”selfish” or a myriad of other unpleasant terms we come up with for people who suffer from depression. So, they keep it to themselves, trying to beat themselves up into feeling better… a vicious circle if you ask me. And vicious it is, if left untreated, it continues unabated until they’re unable to function, or suicidal or both.
