Whitney Straight CF-FGK at the Reynolds Aviation Museum ,Wetaskiwin,Alberta in September 2005.

For Paul of XS186 Crew here a few pics taken on my cheap and nasty Brownie 44a at Woodford,29th June 1968.

Vulcan is XL391,Shackleton is XF711 and the Andover is XS596.After hours of searching in the loft,I eventually my old log book:)
I have checked my log Paul and the only J.P.T4s I logged wereXP562,XP686,XS184 and XR702
Dave
Many thanks! Can you add any others to my log (on the Woodford 1968 thread) by any chance? Particularly the two Chipmunks. I was beginning to think that nobody else in the Aviation fraternity was at Woodford in 1968!
Best regards,
Jim
PM sent with log for the show ,Jim
Actually it’s the prototype HS780,G-ARRV,which became the Andover, that was converted from the Avro748 prototype G-APZV

Did you get any ‘display’ shots off on the day ?

Sorry Paul, not with my little point and shoot!
Not sure of the exact date.I used the printed date on the Kodachrome slide which only gives the month and year it was developed. I do have a slide of G-BHUB somewhere but not taken at the same time as these two.I’ll try to find it tomorrow.
Some really fascinating photos of British civil aviation from the 1950s and 60s.The best posting by far this year,in my opinion.
WJ945/G-BEDV looking immaculate at the October 1985 Duxford Show

A C-54 would be an ideal exhibit for the IWM at Duxford to tell the Berlin Airlift story along with the Hastings, but as the IWM no longer want larger aircraft this is probably a non-starter. Another option would be the Speke Aerodrome Heritage Group at Liverpool painted as a Starways DC-4.If the group wanted a DC-4 how about starting an appeal to save one as happened with the Avro748?
There does seem be a great deal of apathy in this country concerning preserving transport aircraft compared to most of Western Europe.
N45CF was also at the Waddington show on Sunday along with a newly restored Auster 5 ,G-AIKE/NJ728.

I hope you don’t mind me using your thread Dave, but here’s a few pics for Philip of the Beech 18s on the evening they arrived at Prestwick in August 1981. I think he may have seen a couple of these before.

Interestingly WG751 had a very modified front-end as shown in my very poor quality picture taken at Ancoats in about 1970.(slide film was expensive in those far-off days so rarely was more than one photo taken of each aircraft!)It must have needed a fair bit of grafting to get the original nose back on during the restoration.
