I’m just above Macclesfield in the Peak District.I would be glad to help if it’s this side of Cheshire
Krakow Airport has (I last visited 3 years ago) a small outdoor viewing area accessable from inside the terminal. It’s not very busy and the apron is only an enclave off the main military base. You can’t see much of the main airfield from the terminal as it is well hidden by trees etc.Make sure you sit on the right side of the aircraft as you land as you will either land or taxi right past the Air Force Antonov 26s and helicopters. The main base is the same side of the runway as the terminal. Also, don’t forget to visit the Museum at Rakowice on the outskirts of Krakow. It is easily accessable by tram from the city centre and is one of the best military aviation museums in Europe.Make sure you visit the restoration and storage area at the back of the main hangar.
The A380 is due to do flypasts at Manchester and Liverpool airports after leaving Fairford on Saturday ,then display at the Wirral Show. It will then land at Farnborough in readiness fror next week’s show.
As this was the only reason I was planning to attend Waddington ,thanks for letting us know.I am so glad I didn’t buy an advance ticket.I hope to see the magnificent beast at Sywell next month.
Lovely pics. What a pity she wasn’t at The Moth Rally at Halton last weekend to join the line-up of G-ACDA and G-ACDI
The main runway at Thurleigh ,27/09, was built post-war ,but the subsidiary runway ,24/06, is original as is 18/36 (But this does have a inconvenient VTOL pit slap bang in the middle!)
Thurleigh must have been been unique in the UK in having 5 seperate hard runways for research use by the R.A.E. 27/09

Landings were on 05R all day.Sam’s later pictures were taken from the North side of 05R after the sun went around late afternoon.
Actually, the Galaxy EC-JQE did land well before the displaced threshold! I must have been standing very close to you. Were you with Dennis?
What I think Bristol Rob is trying to say is that hunting just for pleasure is wrong and I agree with him.Hunting for food for existence is totally different, but as you say everyone has a right to their own opinion and I totally accept that.

Doesn’t anyone else here think that the American adoration of guns is sick and totally abhorrent? Up here in the sheep country of the Peak District, a gun is a tool, used only sparinglyand not for fun, to control the odd rogue fox and to shoot dogs( mainly Weimeraners and labradors) that worry and kill sheep and lambs. Most of the owners are ”townies” and some get very abusive when told to put their dog on a lead in order to protect livestock and breeding wild birds.Thank goodness we have more sensible laws about guns in this country!
