Where do you get that Boeing does not see why? And just what am I acting in denial of?

    just look at irkutsk’s post:

One day after the announcement, Boeing issued a statement criticizing the Pentagon for granting the extension. Here it is:

“We are deeply disappointed with EADS-Airbus efforts to further delay this vital warfighting program and tilt the U.S. procurement process in its favor. EADS-Airbus has been fully engaged in the competition for four years and was always expected to provide the vast majority of its team’s work content.

“We welcome the denial of EADS’s repeated requests to alter U.S. warfighting requirements, and we support the Air Force’s stated intent to provide a level playing field for qualified competitors. We do not see a legitimate reason for EADS’s bid deadline extension request, and we believe an extension that favors any individual competitor does not further the goal of ensuring fair competition.

“Boeing remains fully prepared to submit a competitive proposal by the May 10 deadline originally set by the Air Force. However, this latest development, along with the World Trade Organization’s recent final ruling that Airbus has been heavily and illegally subsidized for decades, requires Boeing to review all of our options for going forward while we wait for a final determination on a deadline extension.”

    not my words but Boeing’s

pfcem, the EADS/NG proposal exceeded all requirements… that was also the reason why they were against the last rfp which did not take into account that fact (basically, looking at the price only).

why they need more time I don’t know, but maybe it has to do with the fact that without NG, they need to put together a proposal which includes studies about the production facilities, for example, which will not be those that were proposed initially.

you can’t study and plan a complete build of an aeronautical factory in a matter of days

of course, boeing “doesn’t see why”, first they were not at the table when EADS and DoD discussed it, and second, they’re likely to behave just like you: in total denial… that’s what their argumentation on EADS is all about… 😀

er, on page 12 it shows better turn rates than the f-16 and f-18, but clearly poorer acceleration…

and that makes me wonder, the F-35 has been cleared for sustained turn capability of 4.95G at Mach 0.8 and 15000ft… that doesn’t seem much. Instant turn, same, if it’s limited to 9G’s, how can it outperform another 9G capable fighter in instantaneous turn (unless it pulls 9G’s at much lower speed)?

not the journalist and not a mistake. In fact, another word comes to mind: a three-letter word starting with an “L”; fairy common with politicians, in general btw. It’s clear for anyone to see, I guess.. except those who doesn’t want to see (or admit it), of course

actually, if they had only one encounter it’s more or less the same.. just as a single day result between the rafale and the typhoon (much more in favor of the rafale) doesn’t prove per se that the rafale is superior…

if in the long term the tendence becomes constant in favor of one plane, that could be considered as an indication of one model being better or having an edge over the other.

what may be funny is that seemingly those politicians will never realize the price, since they’ll probably sign a first “pre-order” paying, say 50 millions per plane, then, a full order paying something like 50 millions more per plane, and finally, “complement payment of, maybe 50 millions more.. and then come out and say: we never paid more than 50 million per plane!!! (and jj quoting that as the real final et full price per plane that australia paid)

actually, since there are some “US specific thingies” in it, I guess there should be a US partner (maybe even NG again, who knows?)

we’ll see once they make their bid

Err . . . no they didn’t. Eratosthenes measured its circumference pretty well 2250 years ago.

    ok, almost everybody… 😀

the important thing is: if many people do something stupid, it doesn’t make it any smarter thing to do 😉

    1991 predates GWB’s “propaganda.”

of course it does, but jj was talking about “iraq in 2002” that was, according to him, first class oponent with latest equipments in anti-air defence

cookie, i guess phoon is the only option for the world, if you are right
i wonder why there is a list of countries that have chosen the f-35 and rejected the typhoon
you should send them an email and tell them of their mistake

jackjack, 2000 years ago, everybody knew the earth is flat… now, is it?

Sens and TooCool, would it kill you to google what you THINK you know, it would save me time correcting you and i didnt say they had the latest, just that it was considered first rate, formidable, very good, better than most and like terms

    lol, that’s a good one… 😀

we both answered for 1991 iraq which got slaugtered with its old SAMs

so, what you say is that after over 10 years of almost total embargo, iraq passed from a totally ruined country (in a military sense) into a first rate equipped nation?

wake up… GWB’s propaganda is history, mate

    :p I don’t think that J 7 Hotdog is Romanian.

BTW, Moldova is not in Russia, it’s an independent country. There are many ethnic Russians (as it was a part of former Soviet Union) but it does not have a common border with Russia.

didn’t look at the map before posting, sorry 😉

it’s the idea of romania looking forward to fighting directly the russians that sounded “strange”, to say the least..

iraq had a first rate sam system tech of the day including some french kit
how many planes were lost to sams and how long did it take for usa to take the sams out with their ew tech of the day ?

first rate.. er not really, but nevertheless, it was no “stealth aircraft alone” over baghdad. even the f-117 went covered by F-111 Ravens for jamming.
