I’m liking the first one, Matt.

To get rid of the ‘dust spot’ you can either clean your camera or edit it out using an editing program such as Photoshop. Feel free to drop me a line and i’ll help you out.

    Thanks 🙂

I get sharp results from my Tamron 28-300 and that’s supposedly the worst one of the lot!

That’s a fine start with a DSLR, Matt! There is indeed a little softness to a couple of them but a quick changing of settings should help. I notice for your EK 777 shot you were using Aperture Priority at f/16 and ISO 400 giving you a shutter speed of 1/125th, which is a little on the slow side meaning it’s much easier to get blur. Firstly, try dropping the ISO to 200. This will have the effect of halving the shutter speed to around 1/60th but if you then drop the aperture down to around f/8, you should get shutter speeds of about 1/250th and your images should be a little sharper.

Hope that helps, and feel free to drop me a PM if I can help. 🙂

Is it this one? It’s the most comprehensive general spotting info site I know of, although there are more.

Shame that the A340 is’nt a regular at MAN,The A330 is popular there and it has its fair share of 747s with the cargo would be nice to get something different. While on the subject why did the airlines i mentioned earlier stop operating MAN? I got pictures of all of em A340s too but on print 🙁

I only ever remember Air Jamaica, due to all of the advertising around and a picture of their A340 in the bright coloured livery. But then again, I wasn’t really doing spotting around that time. It would be great to see some different then the regular 747 and A330s. Maybe more 777s and A340s 😀

Great picture of a great looking aircraft.Does any airline operate an A340 to MAN these days?
    I remember at 1 time there was BWIA,Air Mauritius,Air Jamaica,Cathay and Virgin(started MAN with A340s)

Nope, Although Virgin said next year they shall be sending an A340. Someone could provide more details for me =]

    Hi Matt,

Yes, it’s perfectly normal for the lens to stick out like that. It looks like it’s sticking out because the very end element (the one responsible for focussing) isn’t retracted. Try clicking the lens into manual focus and twisting the end element. You should find you can get it back to its original compact size again. Just remember to click it back into auto focus once it’s nice and compact again!

A very merry Christmas to you, too! 🙂

    Paul

    Thank you Paul :),

    Merry Christmas =]

    Double post, sorry.

Right, well Merry Christmas to you all. I got my 55-200 lens and bag etc today. Right, I do have a question about lenes.

    http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/2479/image363ty8.png

When they are off the camera and you put them to the lowest so say 55. Are they suppose to stick out like that? I remember when I opened it, it was all in. But once been on camera and back off it sticks out. Is that normal?

Edit; Sorry about the image, taken from mobile.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but i thought why not update this one instead. Anyway, I got my Nikon D40 kit a week early then Xmas. =]

Its a good camera, testing it all out. But i noticed that the camera doesn’t have a feature to like show you how many photos you can take left? If you get me. Is that common? I know it will tell me when the card gets full.
