A real sweet set of photos. Definately somewhere I want to visit one day.
However I am confused as to why it is ironic?
I think Newforest was just trying to make the point that it’s a weird coincidence that two of their major accidents have occured on the same day.
It’s a real tragedy. I suppose the only slim positives to take are that no passengers were onboard and that hopefully lessons can be learned as to the cause. RIP to the crew/engineers.
Read somewhere that one DUB rotation will be binned to make way for the new flights. However with BA withdrawing from Dublin I’d find that quite surprising.
In general though it is nice to finally see some FR expansion at LGW. Excited about the Alicante route which should provide some stiff competition for EZY and ZB. It’s probably the case where they’ve wanted to get in for a while but haven’t been able to due to the slot issue, however due to the recent spate of failed airlines/moving to LHR, a number of slots have presumably come available.
Well done – guessing you dont want to move out of the north-east judging by those choices!
I remember last year when I sent my UCAS off. It felt like such a good feeling after ages getting the personal statement right, getting a good reference & of course making the choice of course. It then took quite a while for the offers to come though, but that totally depends on the uni/course.
Best of luck with it all!

Wonderful news – great to have you back!

Were they regulars or were they only occasional?
Josh has talked to me, and I’ve taken his word for it. But I had heard EZ had kept GB operations and aircraft seperate from their own.
Apologies, it could be a 320 or 321, but is most probably 319. No airlines starts new routes with their largest aircraft anyway.
Yer regular (every day except one or two over the last month). Slightly bizarre I know but if it fits in nicely with the aircraft schedules then that’s what they will do. I believe I also once read somewhere that Athens was a very popular route.
I would be very surprised if anything other than the standard A319 operates the CPH, however.
The 320s and 321s have been used on GB routes and GB routes only.
They’ve used the 320s on Athens flights this summer and that wasn’t an ex-GB route.
I suppose this is quite a natural and expected move from them given their large presence at Gatwick. Just looking at the CAA sourced passenger numbers for that route for this year it seems there is a good demand for the route, so it should turn out to be successful for EZY.
Thanks for your comments, Tom and Tom!
Mr Fellows. I wasnt aware you moved? This because of Uni? Hows the driving going!
Yer I’m at University now at Warwick so nothing really near me except Coventry (which very soon will have practically nothing). At least I can see some planes lining up for Birmingham though.
I love them shots, Josh. Presuming you were in the 08R field? Just a shame I’m no longer around the area to go as I’d have loved to have seen the NWA 742s. 🙁
I’m not sure that those flight numbers operated this year. Probably due to the merger the numbers are changing next year. However this summer Thomsonfly sent a 737-800 on Fridays & a 767-300 on Tuesdays.
Another ’emergency’ today involving fumes onboard a 757. If I remember rightly it isn’t the first time that fumes have caused the diversion of 757 flights either.

One would wonder whether any of the cabin crew could have noticed that the flaps had not been deployed?

That would probably be logical, but would the cabin crew be seated in an appropriate seat to do so? I’m not familiar with the MD80 series but I assume that the crew would have their seats at the front & rear gallies and I know that their windows are quite often small & difficult to see the wing from.
