Thanks Adam & Steve! 🙂
Is it walkable from the terminal to the end of 08L? Should i bring my walking boots when I next visit gatwick?
It is walkable from the south terminal – i do it every time! It takes around 30 to 45 minutes depending on your pace, although there is a crash gate or two half way where climb out shots of smaller aircraft can be got. There is no pavement of such on the roads up there once you leave the inner perimeter road. There is one section of dual carriageway with a narrow grass area to walk on, plus a little walk through a sometimes muddy path.
Thanks all!
looked like a cracking day for photography
Sure was a great day, Si – clear but hardly any heat haze! Perfect.:)
a few more…

Thanks a lot for looking!
Your photos are wonderful! Keep up the good work!
Awesome photos, Tom!!!:)
Superb shots! Really makes me want to visit LHR again!:)
Lovely images, Phil. I particularly like the KLM shot.
Lovely photos Adam, especially the last one!:)
Another excellent photo thread by you, Dan. 😀
From looking at previous ACARS reports, it’s likely to be a 737-700 to MAN, 737-300 to BFS & 737-700 to STN.
Regarding the shop, the last I heard (months ago) was that it was to be moved downstairs into the terminal somewhere. Hopefully a local with provide a definitive answer. 🙂
They don’t operate exclusively to Toronto during summer, if that’s what you’re saying. If you take a look at http://www.lhr-lgw.co.uk, you will find these aircraft operating on a range of routes, both Canadian & European.
It’ll be a bonus if you manage to get one of these aircraft on a European flight – 35″ seat pitch! 🙂
Definately a 757-200. It’ll be one of the G-FCLH/I/J ones because it comes in from Toronto at 0920 that morning, that’s if everything is running smoothly.
Super shots!! 🙂
Great photos!
Excellent shots. Looks like glorious summer weather, shame there’s none here in the southeast.:(
