Very interesting selection. Nice registration on the Corsair 747!
Super shots – some lovely angles in there.
‘Tis a shame for all those who still Flight Sim. I know I almost went there every day when I was still simming so I can imagine the frustration. But life goes on..
Good footage. Some people never cease to amaze me with their lack of common sense – the guy picking up his bits of paper being a prime example.
I also thought that the evac took a fair while but I’m sure the fire service were in constant comms with the flight deck. Good job.
I think I’d rather walk out of there than fly!
Nice set, Paul. I still hate that ‘Friendly Low Fares’ slogan that Jet2 have put on the 757 – it’s like what someone doing a Flight Sim repaint would put on. Uber tacky IMO.
This is a disgusting proposal, it just discriminates against a certain group of people. Besides, the law of averages will normally suggest that for every ‘fat’ person there will be a corresponding ‘thin’ person. Sorry, but what a load of rubbish.
Nice, at least it’s been put to good use. I’d imagine it’s quite cramped though and it looks a bit precarious on that hillside!
This does sound plausible although I’d be quite interested in seeing the full report. I’ve just been looking through my textbook (as I haven’t studied optics yet!) and the magnification from the water bottle could of course magnify the energy in the rays into a small point. Basically to get high magnification you need quite a pronounced curvature on the lens (in this case the bottle). It probably happened in this case that the focal length was where the logbook was. Of course there are loads of different variables here, such as whether the bottle was deformed in any way etc.. It just goes to show how something so innocuous can cause a problem.
I’ve heard stories like this before except with water bottles in cars causing burn marks. Slightly different case, but I remember a news item where a bedroom was destroyed by a fire caused by sunlight being focused by an ornament.
The new pub at uni opening today was about as good as it got. Somehow the physics of Waves and Special Relativity isn’t making me smile right about now when I have an exam in, oh, 10 hours time on them. :p

Wow that’s an amazing opportunity you have there. Excellent photos. 🙂
That was absolutely amazing last night. An incredible effort from Liverpool even with the emotional Hillsborough anniversary today, which no doubt must have occupied their minds.
Anyway, hoping Arsenal (& Porto :diablo:) can do the business later on!:p
