I have taken lots of shots of aircraft at CFU and ZTH and encountered no problems whatsover so you should be fine. 🙂
Yer, ZTH is very good and safe to do so. Never been to Kos so can’t comment, but when I was at SKG earlier this year there were big signs saying ‘No photos’, which was wise to obey given the military presence there. 😉
If we’re counting cargo carriers as well, DAS Air Cargo use DC10s into Gatwick (and maybe a few other airports- I don’t know).

I don’t have an issue with the safety, I agree with what you said, it’s more a reliability issue I have. These aircraft are 21 years old and are going to be doing transatlantic runs on a daily basis come next summer and GSM aren’t going to have any back up if things go wrong so I’m just hoping that they will be reliable enough, given their age…
Yep, see what you mean totally. I would guess that Excel are getting rid of them ASAP due to their unreliability – certainly what I’ve observed at Gatwick is that the 757s do have a habit of being rather late sometimes.

They probably won’t be brand new aircraft, Josh. More likely the new aircraft delivered will go to one of the UK/Ireland bases first.
Let’s face it, each plane is checked routinely and it won’t fly unless 100% safe so I would have no worries going onboard it. Having said that though, 7+ hours on a narrowbody would annoy me I think.
Yes but at least you do get some extras with BA that you don’t get with Jet2. You do pay a bit for the accessories.
I wasn’t specifically comparing BA and Jet2, but in my mind BA are better anyway.

I really don’t know why people wax lyrical about Jet2. They’re a decent airline, but better than BA or any other airline? I don’t think so.
I don’t have that specific one that you mention, but I have the ‘Uniden-Bearcat UBC105XLT’ which is around £70. Does just what I want, of course, but there’s probably something less expensive around. Obviously you pay for quality (that’s the theory anyway:))
Seems like the 29th will be the last Gatwick NW DC10 operated flight, NW43 to Minneapolis leaving at 1205. Weather permitting, I’ll be waving her goodbye 😉 😀
