    I believe that this is a Clerget 9BF from the anotation on the photograph. This looks more traditional Clerget with the inlets behind the cylinders. The cylinders appear to be one piece and made of steel.

    Thanks for the Wiki reference, having looked around there appear to be a selection of ‘Clerget 9’ engines on the web.

    I agree that the Lincolnshire one looks the same as the one in the photograph but there should be a letter after the 9? Any idea where it was made and how it has been identified as a Clerget? Any thoughts when it was made? Why does it only have one magneto, is it an early engine? The inlet manifolds look more Bentley than Clerget?

    My initial thoughts too; but did Clerget design an engine which had what looks like steel heads and aluminium muffs on the cylinders? If so what model number did it have?
