From inside: the reason why Pink Lady flies [this year] has nothing to do with a Government action in France. They have to apply the same rule. Check the firstcoming issue of the French aviation magazine Le Fana.
From all over Europe, complaints of [warbird] operators arise on the premium consequences. Unless many governments and EU come to the conclusion that this regulation is unfair for warbirds, we all have to face the consequences. That could be: no more flying.
Bet you’re correct: the list is far from complete! I miss at least one big bird 🙂
Correct, and apologies for the misquote of your familyname Yves! I even made a mistake in the place of departure – Xavier corrected me. Dyon [F] is written as Dijon [F]. Keep smiling!
The new colours…. I have some nice suggestions!
Hi all
The former French Mitchell F-AZID was ferried today 26 January 2005 with her new registration HB-RDE from Dyon [F] to Sion [CH]. After a thorough de-icing at Dyon – the plane was ice-covered – the crew flew the 1945 built veteran bomber to Sion. Pilots were Peter Kuypers from the Netherlands [one of the Mitchell pilots in the Duke of Brabant Air Force] an Yves Castelier from Belgium [known for flying the Lysander]. “En route” the Mont Blanc was passed at some 12,000ft / FL120. Yes, rather cold. After an interesting fly by the plane landed around 16.00LT at her new homebase Sion. More details to follow
Kind regards
Coert
Bottom is in Montevideo 1996 (same trip as top) yes it is a B25 behind and I will post a pic soon. Sadly much of the museum collection was lost in a fire shortly after) Also visited Buenos Aries and the museum at Jorge Newbury Aeropark airport – I could post some from here if interested (has a nice Avro Lincoln)
Can’t w8 for the B-25 pics….
That’s many moons ago, WW #14…
The Cat is still at Beauvais, has damage due to heavy wind. A spare engine is ready in Israel, but this has nothing to do with F-AZID [as far as I know, but I’m never too old to learn…]
Don’t know yet on new colours for the Mitchell, stay tuned.
I must have some pictures of the rare occasions several years ago when we had three Mitchells at Flying Legends, will have a look.
Marvellous Mirriam @ Biggin Hill 21Sep80
A friend of me has a picture of MM coming up from the valley @ Biggin Hill during the airshow on 21Sep80. I’ll check the availabilty. I used it in the DBAF’s magazine a few issues ago.
Couldn’t agree more: the bigger the better!
Yep, as far as I know, N9089Z was used in “War Lover” in the early 60s
Kind regards
