Read it many years ago, great read.
Reach for the sky(Bader) and Fight for your life(Stanford-TucK) are also worth reading.
Narrowly missing two imbiciles running across a railway crossing in front of me, 600 tonnes of train does not stop on a sixpence…….:eek::eek:

Perhaps the pilots were distracted while trying to work out why they were getting conflicting readings in their instuments.
Remember the Eastern 1011 that went down in the Everglades…

Turkish Airlines crash at AMS
Using that database, it appears that Turkish have had 13 accidents since the 1950s. But American Airlines have had 16, Northwest/Northwest Orient/Northwest Airlink 16, and United 21. I guess that means American, Northwest and United have an even worse safety record. If you want to interpret the figures that way, go ahead. Don’t fly at all – that’s the safest way. Don’t drive either – because if someone bumps into your car and you were totally not at faul, that’d be sure to chalk you up as have a bad driving record.

Good point.
I rest my case…..
Turkish Airlines crash at AMS
As stated before lets see what an inquiery might turn up.
It is very easy to quote statistics, they can be interpreted any which way you like.
Yesterday the Dutch AIB announced that they should have a prelimenary report on Monday. Untill then one might as well study the tea-leaves in a tea cup.
Gypsy Rose where are you when we need you…..;);)
BREAKING NEWS: Turkish Airlines crash at AMS?
A very poor safety record for this Airline!!!

Just to get facts correct, the Paris DC10 crash was due to a design fault in the aircraft itself, a US DC10 suffered the same failure but through good fortune and pilot skill managed to land.
Our local media was mentioning this yesterday, the Dutch press seems to have forgotten that the worst air disaster was caused by a Dutch pilot….
Lets all wait and see what an inquiery turns up.
:eek::eek::eek:Curses,,, foiled again;)
757 afficionada, G-BIKI was the first one I flew.
I work in the public transport sector, so the paying pax puts jam on my bread.
I am all for reducing pollution levels but think that our green friends most of the time use facts as they deem fit for use……
At the moment it is car/and planes that are taboo. Soon some long haired woolly hat wearing individual will start moaning that nuclear power is unsafe, then it will be genetic enhanced crops, moblie phone masts, and ……. back to planes and cars. Has anyone ever realised how much trash is just thrown on the ground every day, just look at an average train station. Never hear these losers about this, how long does it take a fag butt to decompose?. ………I have never visited an airport that had trash all over the place(could be asking for it here:eek:)
it’s always darkest just before it goes pitch black
