Nice.
That wouldn’t improve the low air speed handeling? What would the Mig-29K Max takeoff weight from their Carrier be?
Would they have to comprimize on the Fuel VS Weapons load as with the Current Su-33?Thanks
Frankly, I dunno how it compares with the naval flanker. What can be surmisedabout the naval fulcrum (9.41) is as follows:
Empty 12500kg
MTOW: 24500kg
Max payload – 6500kg
max niternal fuel = 5500kg
not sure about bring back weight.

I like the Saab Gripen NG (at least as it is forecasted to be). If they manage to keep the weight down to 6.8 tons, it’ll be awesome. My only suspicion is about Saab’s ability to provide TOT for components that it has little control over, the F414s for example.

As trident was saying, people tend to forget that supersonics can have non-traditional trajectories/paths. They ain’t exactly ballistic missiles. Late manouverability is a definite possibility. Add to that the fact that they can do the sea skimming bit either throughout their envelope (albeit at a lesser range) or during late stages.
If you want to go for HVAs, supersonic missiles do provide certain advantages. For others, subsonic ones are good enough.

It should have a NATO codename: AA-14 Asteroid
(because the Novator R-172 races toward its juicy airborne AWACS / ISR target like an asteroid).
Are you sure you dont have “aSteroid” charged missile?:D

Not an expert but looks like Borei’s little brother 😎
Seems like the Yasen too! But definitely has a Borei function and hump. Kind of mixing the two? INteresting for sure.

Thanks a lot guys. I was just reading the development of the MiG-29K and was quite impressed with the improvements made. Wonder if we’ll see any further development this Maks, wouldn’t be surprising considering the IN is not going to receive the Gorky any time soon. It was said that the 29k had a supposed blk type development after the original. There was a 2002 version (312?) and then a 2008 version (341/47) with continuous development. Could a 2012 version have an AESA + TVC?
This Maks, I really want to see the Pakfa, MiG-35 (prod variant), MiG-29K, Su-35. Not necessarily in that order. Can’t wait.

Dassault has signed contracts with Empresa Brasilieira de Aeronautica SA, the world’s fourth-largest planemaker, and 37 other companies to shift production of the Rafale to Brazil, Jean-Marc Merialdo said, according to the Sao Paulo-based newspaper. Dassault has a 0.9 percent stake in Embraer, Valor said.
As part of a long-term defense agreement with Brazil, the French government has also authorized Dassault to transfer all of the Rafale’s technology to Brazil, including the source codes for the fighter jet, the newspaper said, citing Merialdo.
Brazil’s military is expected to decide the winner of the so-called FX-2 program later this year.
If this is piece is reliable, that is good news. Dassault for once seems to be doing the right type of stuff. 36 rafale for $ 2 billion does not sound bad at all, thats about $ 60 million per bird, not bad even if just fly away cost.
This could have some real implications for the MRCA deal with india too.

can anyone tell me what that grey thing is near the right horizontal stabilizer along the engine nacelle/intaks?

And is that a typical EFT?

I wonder how much attention Sukhoi will pay to appearances.
I don’t care what if flies/fights like, but it better look good. One of those pics posted by Otaku earlier will do. :diablo:

No land has been sold to the US, they have given clearance to two of the sites where US firms will make the reactors for India, operated under supervision of course lest we supply the technology to Bhutan.
If I were a strategist for the United States, I wouldn’t be too concerned about Bhutan, my worries would be Russia. And this specifically applies to defense deals and dual use tech. India probly has enough tech exchange with the russkis to be a cause for concern.

why do you choose to take part in a debate while deliberately avoiding the best source of data?
Anything to drive home his point you know. You should see the amazing stuff he brings out against the fulcrum as well – supposedly is as heavy as the eagle and the MKI 😀

100-200km would be a big underestimate of the PAF new AESA AEW&C, if you ask me..more likely 400km+ depending on target size.
Yes but I think he is taking into account the fact that the PAF will operate the erieyes well within their own borders to avoid tempting a quick attack by the IAF, esp. during war time.
USS.
EF 2000 Strengths: Uber tech, performance, diversification + no end user strings, possible commonality with Tejas in engines, decent experience with IAF
Weakness: Very pricey, not much political clout (less than france)
Gripen/Saab Strengths: Decent tech, performance, meets original IAF needs.
Solid price, offset program, diversification of inventory
Weakness: V.little political clout, nightmares from the past- Bofors saga, too close to Tejas mkII. Questions about ability to provide reqd. TOT/independence for U.S parts.
USS.
In my opinion this competition will mostly be political!Between Russia and USA.
Russian strengths: Price undercutting, clout in MOD, heavy commonality with IAF inventory, Deep TOT.
Weakness: Overdependence, gorky saga.
U.S. strengths: Uber technology, recent GOI warming up towards U.S.
Weakness: end user agreements, more recent cooling of relations since obama admin. Lets see what hillary’s latest visit does.
French Strengths: Great tech, IAF dotes on french a/c., politically neutral, no threat of overdependence or end user strings.
French weakness: Uber prices. Less clout.

Thanks ELP, that was very informative. The Shornet indeed seems to be a total geewhiz electronic jet. Solid stuff.
