I just read in the book “The Shuttleworth Collection” by David Ogilvy the following about AVRO 504K H5199: “Impressed into military service in 1940 as BK892 for glider towing experiments”. Who says that a Tiger Moth is unsuitable for towing gliders?
This is the one at Flixton.
With AR213 and AR501 under restoration, the only airworthy Spit in Europe not mentioned yet is PS890. Any news about this one?
Hi Nick,
You can resize your pictures in Adobe photoshop or Microsoft photo editor. Select “resize” with the setting in pixels. If you downsize the pictures in say 600 x 800 pixels, your problem is solved.
Yes you did and I’m sure you’re right. It’s not a complaint that it takes another week. I’m just curious. Can’t visit a major airshow in the UK every year, so I hope this will be a good one. The prospect of seeing a new Spit mark V is fantastic. Now we only have to pray for some good weather.
The website of the IWM still doesn’t give any information. I found this provisional list on http://www.militaryairshows.co.uk/ven2.htm today:

RAF Tucano T1
RAF Hawk T1 (100Sqn)

Spitfires (lots of ’em) including:

Concludes with a spectacular massed flypast of Spitfires.
Is it the fighter version of a piper cub?
Also in the Netherlands, there were several Gliding clubs using the Tiger Moth for aerotowing.
The Cornish Gliding Club at Perranporth is still in the list of BGA clubs (see more on http://www.gliding.co.uk).
Uploading pictures is not as easy as expected.
For those who aren’t able to visit her, I send a picture that I made at the Aviodrome Museum last april.
With this information it’s clear what its future will be. Thanks.
No, I found the information on http://www.avianet.nl. The same information is to be found on the Dutch pages of http://www.aviodrome.nl
