Does anyone know if the planned charters from BHD to Malaga are still going ahead – these were to start on 7 July then I read in local travel news that BMI A321s were being used instead due to an increase in capacity being needed – can anybody throw any light?

I see where you’re coming from – I know the Baby moving to BHD rumour has been mooted in the past – if the two combine under the one operation then surely it would be more costly to operate from both BHD and BFS. If the present Baby routes were to go to BHD, then presumably the same terms currently granted to BMI would apply. The only possible problem would be BHX where they would compete directly with Flybe.

Others have tried working from both in the past (Jersey European as they were then & BRAL) and discontinued due to costs.

Of course, there is the possibility that BMI could transfer back to BFS although rumour has it that their departure from there in 2001 was less than amicable.

If the two become one again, will be interesting to see what happens at the Belfast end – BFS or BHD or both?

The Q400 as used by Flybe has an unusual arrangement – red anti-collision beacon on fuselage top and white strobes on top of the tail and under fuselage – there do not appear to be any wing tip lights (apart from the usual red/green).

Has anyone any ideas how Flybes’ BHD/ABZ is doing against Easterns’ BFS/ABZ – Eastern recently reviewed their fare structure so presumably Flybes’ presence was concerning them.

Flybe have indicated that they want to expand at BHD but this will depend on the outcome of the current planning review – international routes like Brussels were mentioned in the past

Unfortunately, the absurd passenger cap is causing major problems and seems to be in place to placate a few NIMBYs and another competitor not a million miles away (I’m sure you’ll know who I mean!)

Apparently Astraeus are planning a few charters from BHD to AGP this summer and BHDs runway is shorter than LBAs so there mustn’t be a problem.

The other one is D-CMTM – don’t think there are any plans for 328 Jets but with Euromanx you never know what might appear – also believe they’re still using Emerald ATPs!

Maybe when BMI make their minds up about these they might look to north of the border and sort that out – one route from BHD – LHR and the rest from BFS courtesy of WW – utter confusion and must be costing a fortune for the group to be operating from both Belfast airports!

Little surprise at the BFS stopping – the writing was on the wall when the frequency reduced from daily to 4x weekly – have Flybe shown an interest in MME? – would this not infringe on their NCL ops.

Slightly off thread but have heard that the WW/6G codeshare from BFS – CWL may be shortlived as Air Wales are keen to take this over entirely and, if so, may transfer back to operate from BHD -would seem to make sense.
