You said X-35. simple typing error happens all the time. Anyway i agree with you but i suspect the US has already implemented that cockpit design in. that other cockpit would have been a testbed for other systems or the massive one piece MFD

According to PM its the F-35 mockup. It wouldn’t make sense to bring a testbed to a airshow

maybe retaining the MFDs had something to do with reliability of the MFDs since they were cutting edge and seem to have been prone to failure since the dials were still kept. Looking at aircraft from about 2000 onwards they seem to have lost all dials
