just like the bombing of the Chinese embasy in Yugoslavia with 3 tomahowks.
I belive the Embassy was hit by gravity bombs, not Tomahawks.
People were killed by the US intervention in Kosovo. We were there because NATO asked the US to help.
So it’s oaky for the US to kill pepple when NATO asks, but not when it acts unilaterally? People are dead either way.
Bush probably made a mistake by going into Iraq.
But I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because (obviously unlike you) I didn’t have access to all the intelligence reports.
And before you say Bush wanted to invade Iraq because of Choose one:
Evilness, oil, having a bad hair day, etc, then why did Blair go along?
The UK doesn’t need the oil, and being a Labour government, he had no overriding reason to side with a conservative US government.
I’ll repeat my comments about the anti-US criticism on this board:
Europeans like America to fight when it is protecting them…Even after a University degree in history I can’t fgure out why the US got involved in Europe’s bloody little mess called World War One…but they get very testy when America acts in its perceived self interest. And instead of ofering reasoned arguments, they resort to name calling and making absurd generalizations.
The anti-US (and frequent anti-Israeli and anti-sememitic postings) are usually done by people who have never done anything more constructive than take airshow pics, complain about too many Mustangs at airshows while b***ching about other countries.
Hang on – Iraq was invaded because Saddam wouldn’t give up WMDs that he didn’t have! reconnisse teh situation. And Condi not is the
No , Iraq was invaded (in part) because he wouldn’t let the UN inspect.
Why?
1. He’s nuts.
2. He didn’t want Iran to know he was bluffing on WMD.
At least the UN sanctions are now off Iraq. If they were as bad as Iraqi wnated us to believe they were, than their lifting…as a direct result of the invasion is a good thing.
Get a life GA….
Well the sins of the U.S. (real and imagined) are debated continously on this forum and I have no difficulty with that. Looks to me, however, that some here are afraid to discuss issues without making a derisive comments about the U.S. Sad.
Sauron
I agree.
If terrorists blow up Australians somewhere and someone on this forum condems the act, someone will bring up Israel.
Someone’s murdered in Europe by Islamic extremists and someone will point out how bad the people on the West Bank have it.
Something bad happens somewhere the automatic response is to criticize America.
Here’s a news flash…WE GET IT.
We’ve been out of school for a few years ,we know America isn’t perfect, but some things are bad and don’t have to be linked to America or Israel.
And if someone calls them on it, they’re called a right-wing extremist.
Get a life. If you want to constantly gripe about America, there must be someplace other then Key Publishing’s message boards to vent your anger.
Interesting link but most European survivors are not listed
As I indicated in my post.:)
$100million plus for that Vintage pieces?
With ASW/patrol (and most other sensor-heavy) aircraft, it’s not the airframe you’re paying for, it’s the electronics. And the electronics on the new P-3Cs are nothing like the ASW gear on 1962 P-3As.
American talk show host/car nut Jay Leno has a 1938 Rolls Royce Phantom II powered by a Merlin. It was featured on a episode of “My Classic Car” a couple of years ago.
Super power coalition? Sounds like the X-Men or some comic book stuff…
You’ve obviously never served in an infantry unit. If you think someone is playing possum, you don’t walk up and ask them “Are you playing possum?”. You shoot them. If seeing people get killed sickens you, stop watching combat footage. Second guessing ground troops on the scene, and having moral outrage, from the safety and security of being a few thousand miles away, is, super brave of you. If you know a better way to do it, write a letter to the Marines, or the Royal Marines, I’m sure they’d like to hear from you.
You don’t know Flood, he shoots (his mouth off) first and asks questions later. 😎
Sorry, it’s not listed among the few straight-wing F-84 survivors on this pretty accurate website.
http://www.coastcomp.com/av/pres/oldafjet.htm
There’s a chance it went overseas to a NATO country and survived.
I don’t have ready access to a list of international survivors, but I believe there are several more in Europe than listed on the site.
I believe it’s on loan to the EAA Museum in Wisconsin for a couple of years.
Try http://www.eaa.org
Funny how I knew you’d bite !!!:)
Somebody needs to keep you in check!!! 😀
Neither, both are a symbol of American Comercialism.
Thank God for American commercialism!!!! 😎
I believe that Richard Bach did some of the flying, or flew the same replicas for the later ‘Aces High’.
Favourite moments for me? Ursula Andress’s gravity defying towel! 😮
Moggy
I flew into Powerscourt once.
According to a Bach book, he flew for a 1971 film “Richtofen and Brown.” (sometimes called “The Red Baron”).

As opposed to taking valuable historic aircraft parts and then altering them to look like an Historic aircraft. Thats not Historic Aviation. He’s building a racing plane that bares a passing resemblance to an MB5. [/QUOTE]
I’m pretty sure the Mustang wings were new build, and the Griffon was just stiiing around, (it’s not like it’s desperately needed elsewhere), so no real harm done regarding the historic parts used.
All I’m saying is let’s give the guy a bit of credit, after all it’s better than any plane most of us have ever built.
I wonder if that lineup of Constellations was all CG, or if they duplicated shots of the one they did use. For the filming of ‘Aviator’ the Airline History Museum’s L-1049 Super G N6937C ‘Star of America’ was used.
From the 2 second shot I saw, the planes looked like later model Connies like the “Star of America”…maybe they shot it and digitally “cloned” it.
