I have an old GRECOM PSR-295 and use the rubber duck most times but I did invest in a couple of mag-mount ariels for the car and for listening further afield.
Choose a couple of sets of rechargeable batteries, (seperate charger as the built in one just does not seem to fully power them) mine will always see a couple of days out when in use from fully charged, a plug in for the car is good and have used mine on the move if heading to airshows with the mag-mount.
I select different channels, IE, for airshows and for at home and sometime do the airliners which are good to listen to sometimes.
Plenty out there but I must admit I am happy with the GRECOM.

A massive thank you to all owners and pilots for this event at a great expense and hours put on your fantastic machines. I guess a lot of Merlin maintenance will commence as quite a few hours have been put on the machines what with the Biggin flight a few weeks back and now this with transits etc and of course BBMF have supported these events too.
I was at White Waltham yesterday and the six did their flyby and departed to the south (I thought they were off to Northholt) but the flew off over Farnborough and back to Goodwood I suspect. the better half watched form the garden, we sit just outside Stansted TMZ and she got to see two lots of 3 heading Braintree to DX.
One last thank you again from me, it does not seem a blink since the 35th, 40th and 50th anniversary of the BoB, where does the time fly.
We will not forget.
As I have said before STUNNING, and it looks like its only going to get more stunning as its fully kitted out, fantastic work and dedication.
Paul, please keep updating it does give people a heads up at destinations and en route to get a glimpse even.
I do not click any of his links and as Moggy says, if you do not want to look don’t click.
Two what looked like Pitts Special/ Christian Eagles heading N across the A12 at Witham under the weather going at a good pace.
Invasion stripped Spit heading around the Stanstead TMZ north towards Duxford around 45 minutes ago
MH434 and now Spitfire N3200 just passed over Hanningfield Reservoir
Just need to find a pair of Alisons and a bit of tin with numbers on, P38 !
when at auction you factor in your hammer bid, If they are over zealous with the estimate the bidding will reflect that, I thought chippy price was fair.
Did not notice the premiums, lets say 20% + Vodka and tonic so on 30 k its £6600 if my math correct total of £36600.00 at bottom end of estimate, Reserve around 28k maybe with auctioneers discretion may pick it up in early 30s
