Looks European to me, very Gothic the spire on the right.
Some picture from the Orsett Air Fair 97
google images and put in “Orsett Air Shows” you will see Norman Lees with Spitfire TE184 then click into the images, great memory.
Fighter Meets, Biggin Airfair and BoB days were great, Old Warden is a one off and still going strong. I also really loved the Orsett Air days, I think there were 3 but poorly attended which was a shame and now the trees at the western end have gone makes it so much easier to take off in that direction.
True, tried it once, didnt like it, god knows how I ended up with four kids !
Hmmm, Sex has caused me more trouble than any aeroplane I flew, so Sex has always been dangerous and flying has been safe.
Spitfire talking to Southend did not get from to where, anyone see it? 12.25
5 or 6 quid? I take it someone came up with the 2.5k then
I loved the food at bentwaters, real burgers and Sloppy Joes. I also seem to remember it was always very hot for the Bentwaters shows.
The Blue Angels in Phantoms !
At least I got to see Lightnings at North Weald standing on their alight bottoms and heading into the blue harry flatters.
Good use of the valley at Biggin.
Ray Hanna in then Adrian Swires MH434 doing tree surgery at Halfpenny Green around 1972.
Don Bullock ! in both B17 and A26
and Garnadi ? doing that take off at one of the North Weald post Fighter Meet days. ROTATE, INVERT, PUSH !!!! think he got a telling off for that one.
Did anyone see this
I went to the 2012 Leg Ends and was surprised how far away the action was, then surprised even more at the fact that so many did head on approaches to the crowd line. Surely its safe doing left to rights than head ons if something went pop ! But what do I know :stupid:
Its a lamp !
It is photographed here with eleven year old schoolgirls Wendy Anderton and Cathie Jones. I wonder where both of them are, now?
Hi Andy,
I was thinking the same thing. Would it not be fantastic if they are both still around to see this come to light 70 odd years on.
This type of photographic history could do with its own thread,,,,, nudge nudge.
Thanks for posting
Nice photograph and a nice view of the Gas patch too.
Imagine health n safety today, now now children, please get back behind the ring of steel, its ten miles that way as you may cut yourself.
Evocative photograph, really captures the moment.
What I would give for that part sitting in the shed !!
