We cannot be sad we must celebrate the man Alex Henshaw! I tilt my hat in your direction and thank you for the 94 years you lived.
Three words will for ever remain
SPITFIRE Alex Henshaw
Sleep well
Three YAKs doing aero’s over Mountnesing 12.30ish today. Nice tight loops and a lovely sound to a Sunday 🙂 from North Weald?
Hmm captured by the jerrys and a willys jeep behind the wreck !
I think she is all but there ready for engine ground runs, I would think Robs field is a bit wet at the moment but I would think she will feel the wind under her wings this spring.
Where does this fit in with historic aviation?
J man
Can we fly historics today? NO! so that is where it fits in:p

hmmm now the collector ring discharges the correct side so the engine must be correct side up so we need to work out a carb that is DD and would fit the 1340
lucky we know everything 1340:eek:
TT, I cant work it out because the carb would have to be re fitted, or its a down draft and not the Harvard type BUT can you alter the crank access to be handed ie right?, sump is not a problem it looks like he is running the dry sump system so no probs
1340 but hand crank the wrong side so maybe he is running the engine upside down hence the air intake on the top !!!
A pure waste of Harvard panels !:D
Rear fuse is two halves knitted together, not good for airworthy.
Cockpit frame had breaks in welding, again not good fro airworthy.
Engine is a complete no no if it was the one I see with it.
Im sure the centre section had the wing join flanges ground off in parts.
That said its got a worth and its a nice item for a museum or back yard project but for airworthy project look elsewhere id say.
Was this the Ex North Weald, swap for a B.25 nose with Ace’s High, Gordon King, former Maidenhead Garden ornament, Ex Essex Museum, Ex Bletchley park ?
The Saturday market that operates there is the biggest in Europe. You would need to contact first the owner Epping Forest District Council and maybe something could be done in conjunction with the market operators. All the infrastructure is there including vast parking areas and loos, indoor hangar area etc. The council are keen to promote the iarfield for different uses but you would need to contact them quickly.
Its a brilliant venue for a big Aerojumble.
Mark V, I think using the live side IE Squadron area would be perfect and if it was on a Sunday you have the added delight of NO MARKET yessssssssss:D
How about THE NORTH WEALD SHOREHAM AEROJUMBLE ?
1, Historic Airfield, ie WWI, WWII and the Jet age all rolled into one.
2, It has a nice long runway 🙂
3, easy access M25, M11,
4, cant think of one
5, giving up now
6, anyone got anything to add?
