Hi Peter,
Was there a few weeks ago and they have her inside the new hanger and work is going well. Will pay them a visit this week and get you a couple of pix and an update from the guys.
The attached photo was taken back in the summer but gives you some idea of how much work is being done on the old girl
Cheers

Greetings,
Just spoken to my Dad who was a Canberra Nav on 35Sqn and was there when it happened! The story goes that the squadrons were all fuelled/armed and ready to go then whilst taxiing out one pulled up the undercarrage. This spoilt the nights activities somewhat as the guys behind him could not taxi past and they then had to try and remove a fuelled / armed B2. The guy was really lucky not to blow himself and the rest of the Cyprus Canberra force based at Nicosia up with him.
The only bit to add to the story is that the pilot was placed under house arrest and shipped back to the UK where he was offered quite a few jobs by other folk who at the time dissagreed with the Suez campagne.
cheers

Just hope Airbus have “protected noclaims bonus”
Glad no one was seriously hurt that sort of impact could have resulted in fatalities…

Sad sight indeed… 🙁
suppose all the main instrument panels had been long gone, would like one for the collection but hey hoe!
The Mk XIX BBMF Spitfire was there for the launch of the Haynes ‘Spitfire Owners Handbook’ and was used as a backdrop for a photocall.
Brian
Hope it’s better than the one they did for my Rover 25 🙁
Great pix Brian by the way

Hi Ron,
Never seen the seafury this summer 🙁 so would be interested to know when you had the horndean airshow 😉 the nearest we get up here at clanfield is a regular weekend YAK from goodwood or the many lynx test flights.
Hope to see the fury soon when the weather permits

If the ones on the afore mentioned site are a little out of your price range, there is always this prestine example on ebay at the minute.
The Hunter looks a better prospect for the same money

Well Thanks Guys 🙂
As for Humbrol 33 thats what caused the problem in the first place 😮
Right I’m off to Halfords in the morning and a painting we will go!
One last question when stripping the paint off roughly how long to leave it to do it’s work as I don’t want to leave it too long and cause damage to the base metal.
Thanks again
Cliff
Is this original paint then? It looks like Matt paint to me. What went so wrong with touchup?
Peter,
This is the original paint, basically what went wrong is that the matt paint that I tried was too glossy and so stands out like dogs b@@@ks. The attempt to spray over the repair made it worse so I want to take the instruments out and re-spray the whole pannel.
I have the white wax to fill in the etching so just need to get the paint. I am guessing that the autofactor should do a really mat finnish but just wondered if there was a specific shade to make the panel authentic again.
Cliff
Peter,
Here is the panel before the mishap
