Who says IWM don’t listen? Was it just me or was the number of yellow vests getting in everyone’s flight line walk photos significantly down on previous years. Also the announcements asking for folk with step ladders to stand away from the front of the crowd line an improvement on last time as well!Having said that the number of abandoned shanty towns was up 🙁

As for the thunder flies 😮 How the hell do they get into the inside of the viewfinder (never had the lens off all day and yet had 4 running around inside!) more importantly how do you get them out!!!

I for one won’t be joining the ahhhh not as good as last year bregade but instead would like to thank Stephen Grey and everyone at DX for another great day out!!

As this thread seems to have drifted away from personalities i thought i’d just stick in my 2 Euro worth…

The “ACES” in my humble opinion were not just the fighter pilots or any other aircrew,they were part of a huge team who kept the whole operation running.

Yes they stuck their collective heads above the parapit and many gave the ultimate sacrifice and for that we should all honour and never forget the debt we all owe for our freedom.

I was lucky to meet my grandfather in law who served as ground crew with a lancaster bomber squadron, His job was to clean out / refit the rear gunner position after every mission. Some of the sight and smells haunted him until he passed away a couple of years ago and I can understand his reluctance to tell his story to his great grandson who saw him as a hero.

To me he and the many other good folk (of all commands) who kept the lads flying are just as much “ACES” as the aircrew and should also be worthy of rememberance.

The panels are coming on nicely ta muchly… the TT18 MOD now has a TACAN indicator and thanks to Ross a couple of Compass correction cards 😀

The full TT18 is cleaning up well, the front is ok as are the dials but the rear of the panel will need a bit of TLC to get rid of the corrosion.

As for where have i been, living on the A3 but hope to make it over to you at the end of May
