    2 ex-IAC Hawker Hector fuselage frames are stored in Kildare, Ireland. I know the chap who is reported to have them and he all but confirmed it to me.

    Steve Hinton has flown over 120 types of aircraft and has accumulated over 11,500 civilian flight hours and over 9,000 hours as pilot in command of warbirds.

    P-51C-1NT S/N 42-103100 was delivered to the RAF in January 1944.

    Designated P-51 Mk III FB 206 and assigned to the 306th Polish FG “The City of Torun squadron” and Fuselage codes where UZ*M. FB 206 flew combat missions with the 306th from February 1944 to August of 1944. FB 206 also flew on June 6th 1944 for the invasion of Normandy. Starting on July 10th FB 206 flew anti V1 Buzz Bomb patrols and on July 22nd it shot down a V-1 over Hastings UK. From June 17 to August 18, 1944 almost 60 operations, sometimes 4 scrambles in a day during the fight against the V-1s. F/Sgt Rudowski was credited with the kill. On August 18th 1944 FB 206, was involved in a mid-air collision with Mk XIV Spitfire NH713.

    • FB206 crashed into a wooded area in England. The substantial wreckage was recovered and after spending time in a UK Museum, was sold to the current owner.
    • FB206 is unique in that it is the only surviving P-51B/C or Mustang III with a confirmed Kill.

    I’ve been told the parts are displayed at the “Militärhistorisches Museum” in Dresden/Germany. The display board says “Wing of a North American P-51D Mustang Fighter, USA, ca. 1944” and “the wing of this P-51D was recovered in 1969 from the “Schweriner See” (the lake near Schwerin/Northern Germany).
